We Just Exist is the story of a young man (Jack Campbell) trying to escape a monotonous reality and a haunting past by throwing himself into a surrealistic childlike fantasy world, but these illusions quickly begin to dissolve as a much darker reality is revealed. The films intent was to create a highly symbolic film than mainly relies on it's visuals and sounds to tell its story rather than lengthy dialogue.

The film was put together over the span of two years on a very very small budget,
originally being created as a film for Turramurra Highschool's Visual Arts HSC when i had just turned 17.
The whole thing was pretty much all done by Marcus Graham, most of it shot
at school or in his bedroom. This is Marcus Graham's first attempt at a proper film, but it certainly isn't his last.

Hmmm, the style of this reminds me of a movie I had seen once called "The Science of Sleep". That is a good thing, I liked that movie. That being said, this film exceeded my expectations with its excellent visuals, fitting soundtrack, and thought provoking story. It is easy to run and hide from reality, but it will always find you, and coming to terms is terrifying, but it is a necessary evil that is a part of each individuals concept of reality that they create for themselves. This is going in my favorites. Good job, and keep up the good work.

Glad you enjoyed it.
I was a tad inspired by The Science of Sleep actually!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favourite movies :)

I don't write many reviews, but some films like this definitely deserve it. I enjoyed it. The variety of different art forms used really helped create a sense of confusion within the character's mind. Definitely a great films and kudos to Marcus Graham for all of your hard work.

My only criticism is more of a personal opinion than anything else. I didn't like the ending. I would have preferred not to make it seem as though a life for a life is okay. But that doesn't really change how artistic or well done the film was.

Thanks for the submission.

The ending is up for interpretation and i love reading
all the different opinions of what happened at the end!
Personally when i was writing i thought the ending was very sad if you think about it.

I implore you: DO NOT stop making videos. This is a masterpiece for sure. The end gave me chills. This is one of the best shorts I've seen this year, and it's easily one of the most magnificent shorts I've seen in my life. The music is excellent; the small bits of humor are excellent; the transitions between animation and live action are seamless and well done; the writing and storytelling are impeccable; and, last but not least, it's entertaining!

I say, "Bravo! ENCORE!"

mgproductions responds:

Thanks for the kind review!
You're awesome ^.^

This is a world Ithink we all wish we were in deep down. We all wish to live lives of our own creation, free from the sorrow and pain of the natural world. I think this does a pretty good job of showing this concept. This is very beautiful.

I get it! It's about a guy who was born with a limited view of reality(or schizophrenia). He found love, she cheated on him, he feels really guilty, he killed himself, and then they are joined in the after-life. Or something along that lines. Awesome video!
