A story can be told with the right pictures or the right words. You chose the former and performed it excellently. I think dialogue would have taken away from the art of this.

Bravo!

Been a fan for a while now. Saw this on vimeo and I was hooked! Awesome job on the animation and wonderful way of telling a story without any dialogue. Just a little boat :)

I absolutely love animations like this. It leaves an open world of interpretation and can mean anything that you need it to mean. To me, it was a story of a being who lived a life where it seemed everything abandoned it, tore it down, and brought it to near death. Just as the being was on it's final breaking point, all that had caused it so much grief began to give it the attention it deserved. Coming so close to death, it was saved by the love and support of others. To me, this relates so closely to an idea that I personally live by : One Friend Can Save A Life. Any person can be that little boat, and it is your choice as to whether or not you help them float, or bring them to sink.

Proof that an animation doesn't have to have profuse dialogue or be crammed to bursting with action packed scenes. I love the cyclical storyline of the whole animation; it's sad and sweet and, overall, fantastically done. Were the "hills in the water" (for lack of a better term) 3D animation or 2D? I mean, was this whole piece a combination of 2D and 3D or was it all 2D? Because if it was just 2D, i also have to give you credit for amazing perspective changes. All in all, awesome work!

Nelson responds:

all those hills were made up of 3d movie clips. i think CS3 is the earliest version that has the feature?
