a video game about dysphoria and astronauts

"Personal Trip to the Moon" is an experimental game about exploration and discovery which serves as a psychogram of a gray wasteland and its inhabitant.
It's a game about finding yourself 384400 kilometers away from home.

Music: "Une chute sans fin" by "Another Moon" (Sébastien Lombard).
Special thanks to azrafe7 and everyone from the FlashPunk forums.

"Personal Trip to the Moon" is the first game I have ever managed to release and as the title suggests it is a very personal project.
Any kind of feedback is highly apreciated and please keep an open mind while playing. Thank you.

I just played something very strange. Cool, but strange. It felt like a dream, it felt like despair, confused and shaken by the loud music bombarding my ears. I don't know what the PC was nor knew the woman in the glass and on the moon. All that I understood clearly was that she tried to fly in the end. All in all, a good short game that left more questions than I had answers.

This game has many points in it which I found fascinating. The music was chosen well, and it helped express the depressing and self-reflective tone you were going for. I also liked the idea of having the screen look like something from the original Apollo missions, as well as mixing 8-bit art with different textures. All of this had me immersed in the surreal and desolate atmosphere from the beginning.

The way you made it so you can't immediately fly and do all kinds of cool stuff was a strong point as well. It's what kept me playing and kept me kind of excited about what would be the next thing I can do. These new things were also introduced at a good pace and not all spread out where it would take forever to go and find out what to do next, yet gave the player enough time to understand what they can do and what they cannot do.

There is something I'm not to keen on though, and I know this is an art game and is meant to give a message more than something to kill time with, but some more gameplay would be nice. All throughout the game you're basically walking/flying back and forth getting things from people without any real challenge at all. Perhaps a puzzle or a riddle would've worked, that way you can keep the player thinking about the message you're trying to tell rather than making him fly back and forth and getting things from people just by saying, "hey, can I have a thermal shield?" and pressing space a few more times.

Overall this is a great submission that really got me interested in anything else that you could make. Depression can suck but I hope you get through it, because I see you have a lot to offer the world.

VOEC responds:

Thank you very much for your feedback. Even though I read every message and comment I get, I can't respond to everyone. But I thought that I should do it here since you put a lot of effort into your review.
I'm also aware of the gameplay flaws. Thank you for the suggestions, I hope I can do a little bit better with my next game. But I learned much from creating PTttM and all the great feedback like yours.

Hi this game is so fucking great but it would be cool to make a downloadable version because there is some lag.

VOEC responds:

Good idea, although I can not promise that it will help 100% with the lag. I added a download link in the description.

Just registered to write a review. Totally awesome, with a bit more sadness I might cry hard. The game is not too long and too short, simply it shows what it has to show. One of the best games in my whole life.
