Based on a poem by Li Shangyin (813-858) - "Sent North on a Rainy Night".
Final project for an After Effects class. Assignment was to animate a poem or song. Hope you enjoy!
Special thanks to Tom for giving me access to the mp4 upload system. It may take a little while to load, but hopefully the quality is worth the wait.
Also available in Cantonese on youtube for your viewing pleasure! http://www.youtube.com/wa tch?v=1sHTSwe1mVA
The graphics were good, and the added rain sound affect was nice. Connecting it to a heart-warming poem really enhances it. Overall, you did a great job for a short movie.
Where did you find the Cantonese poem?
Just search for "Sent north on a rainy night - li shangyin." You'll find plenty of resources - this one gave the most background detail for me http://bystander.homestead.com/bashan.html
Wow, I earnestly enjoyed this. The art and style of the movie was fantastic, you really brought life to this poem! The manner in which it was executed really added depth to the story and brought out the emotions of the characters. It would be great to see an expanded version of this where you possibly add onto the poem and create an ending for the story (if possible).
You really have a lot of potential; keep up the good work!
Very nice, I like the graphics and sound, especially form the rain. I don't know if it was accurate since I don't know Chinese. The poem was too short thou, but great job since it was a class project.
The short length was due to a constraint of the assignment, as you suspected. Nonetheless, glad you enjoyed it! Thx for reviewing!
The animation was actually really good, I did not understand what it was until I looked at the description though so I was confused but it was actually entertaining in a way :3 4/5
