You are the commander of a mining colony, located on an alien world. The aliens are bombing your colony and you must survive as long as possible by shooting down the alien bombers and shipping in more supplies for your crew.
look, people want fun games, not multi management.
The game seems like a good concept. The art is good too. It lacks certain things, like a break? Where's the pause menu? Why can't you level up your ship? If you could add things like that this game would be great.
I agree that it needs a pause button, and some breaks in the alien waves. My thinking was, as the game neared 'completion', that as a Flash game, people don't really want to spend hours surviving, so I made it harder than it probably needs to be. Even as the designer, I can't survive more than about 10 minutes on easy mode, but I thought that was enough.
Upgrades on the ship were something I was thinking about but wasn't sure how good the game was looking, so decided to release it like this. If people think the game has a bit of promise, I might go back and add stuff like stronger shields, multiple lasers and so on.
I'm new to Newgrounds so I'm wondering, is it ok for me to add these extra features and then republish the game (I think that's probably the whole idea so I assume it's fine). I have the 'live' thing ticked on the dashboard, so presumably if I make changes and then resubmit, it'll show as changed and people get to rate it again?

I don't know if it is just me, but the game makes me feel overwhelmed. There's no menu button to quit the game, at least from what I can see. All the statistics on the menu is the part that makes me feel overwhelmed, just looking at it. In "Easy Mode" I die very quickly, the tutorial battle felt more like easy mode to me. I don't see any options to upgrading your ship, or getting new kinds of weapons.
The only thing I did like about this game though was the battle screen and how it played. The ship moved perfectly with the mouse, and the graphics were nice, reminded me of some other games I've played before.
The colony screen didn't really work out how I intended and I agree, there's just too many buttons. Couldn't think of a better way of laying it all out. I think it's best just played in easy mode, then all you have to worry about is killing the bombers.
I think I'll go back and add ship upgrades. That would make the game more interesting, and a bit easier if you had stronger guns and shields and so on.
