The game mechanics seem to contradict the descriptions, improving a skill or speed doesn't seem to have any effect, higher level skills seem to be more useless than lower level skills, the AI never targets specific body parts and the cost of reseting skills doubles every time you use it so if you're the kind of person who just likes to start playing and not have to start all over from the beginning just to test all the different skills and decide which one you want then this game isn't fun in the long term. It was fun to begin with though, which is a shame.

The AI needs to stop beating the dead horse.

This is a great game. Some of the concerns already mentioned are spot on though. in later venues, it really IS annoying to face an enemy who does nothing but block and counter. Battles take too long as you both just sit there and block waiting for an opening. Especially when one of these battles is couple with the bug where the enemy continues killing an already dead teammate of yours. When that happens, you can't even kill yourself quickly to try again, without forfeited.

Instead of that, maybe you could make the enemy AI a little smarter. Right now, they all focus on one player until they disable or kill him. So all you have to do is survive until the first time you get to command that one gladiator (for me, it is always the same one every round too, so I just gave him my best shield, and powered up his speed) to shield bash to protect himself, while the other two breaks their armor and power attacks to disable. Going for the legs of enemies with two weapons, one arm of an enemy with a two handed weapon and either the arm or the head or body of an enemy with a weapon and shield. (Shield bashes from enemies are not so bad though, so I usually take out the weapon arm for them.) As long as I don't run into the forever blocker, I can beat enemies several levels higher than me.

I Give it 5 stars, only comment so far is that when you kill someone make sure they are permanently dead, even the enemy NPC'S or your own Team mates. For enemy NPC's in col. rank. when they are executed just make a new team spawn at the bottom instead (makes it seem more realistic that way. and as for team members who die it may seem harder for most and make people angry and curse but isn't that more realistic, i mean why have a team with 20 members if you just use the same 3 because they never die.

This is what swords and sandals could have been. My greatest regret with that game is you had to buy it, but finally someone makes a gladiator game I can play for free. You guys rule.
