Created as part of the Mini LD #34 competion over a few hours last weekend, the aim of which was to create a game confined to certain bizarre aspect ratios. In this case, 18x64. However, to get it accepted on Newgrounds I upscaled it 8x. You can play the original at http://omgames.co.uk/smal lminild.html
Collect all the gold in the shortest time possible (personal best is 133 seconds)
Up/left/right to move and jump
K to restart the level
SPACE show the map and gold remaining
Press any key to start
UPDATE: made a few changes based on the great feedback so far...
-Added medals! I think...Someone please let me know if it works
-Added WASD controls
-Tweaked the level design a little to prevent the player getting stuck in a few areas
-Hold down the spacebar to see how much gold you have left to collect
-Working on a map...Stay tuned!
UPDATE 2:
-Map is now done, just hold down the space bar to see where you are and where the gold is
-Added high scores!

I actually really liked this. Very unique with the small screen and maze like game play.

Awesome game for the time limit. Very addicting. Great job!

This game I honestly, a very great one and it was worth the 315 seconds for me to beat it. And considering how you made it in only a few hours, phenomenal! The whole idea of the thin screen really caught on after a while and the transitions between areas felt a lot more interesting than a typical game's would. I can't imagine what you'd be able to produce in a few DAYS worth of time :P
Hope to see more from you.

really difficult and fun but once you find out where the gold is the time is not a big factor anymore but i wouldn't say there isn't any replay value because there really is
Usually when I've finished making a game I want to throw it down a pit and never see it again, but surprisingy I find myself coming back to this one on my lunch break at work and seeing if I can beat my best time. Maybe it means I should carry on developing it, or more likely I'm just a bit of a competitive masochist.

I really quite liked this game, and i think the screen restrictions makes this even more unique. I like the thin rooms and the memory challenge that goes with trying to remember where to jump and how the paths connect. Everything together makes this a very well built game, even if the "theme" is somewhat meh. Nobody can say no to coin collection games right?
Glad you liked it. Theme was definitely lowest on my list of priorities, probably because story is by far my weak point. If you've got any ideas for a fitting theme, please let me know!
