4.01 / 5.00 40,088 Views** 30,000 views! What a nice number. Thanks for playing, anyone who played!
**UPDATE 5/9 - Fixed a performance issue. Should run a little smoother. Also, frontpaged, woo-hoo!
**UPDATE 5/7 - Added "CTRL" as a run option for those with keyboard issues. This might have erased some people's data. I hope not, but if so I'm sorry :/ your scores/medals are of course still there.

Inspiration Dave is a platformer. You control a character on a mission to find inspiration through musical notes throughout whatever world he lives in - via going through 33 small platforming stages, with three goals: Finish the stage, collect all 20 notes, and finish the stage 100% very quickly! Only finishing the stage is necessary. There are unlockable secrets for how many notes you collect and stages you finish quickly. I wrote the soundtrack and created the graphics myself, for better or worse! :)
Controls: "/" denote any of the keys work.
X/J/UP/SPACE/W: Jump (tap/hold to change height)
CTRL/Z/K: Hold to run, cancel menu
SHIFT: Toggle "auto-run!" you'll always run with this on. Not advised as you will want more fine-tuned movement in some spots, but hey, do whatever.
left/right, or A/D: Move
DOWN/S: Enter door/interact
P: Pause, Q: Quit stage, R: Restart stage, M: Mute
Made over 12/11-3/12, but mostly 2012.

I found the jump mechanic frustrating, when trying to land on one-block platforms (as in 1-7). The jump difference between "tap" and "hold" is pretty much meaningless, at least in the levels I've seen so far. Often near the start of levels, the game ignores my presses of Z or Shift. When "auto-run" is on, holding Z should allow you to walk. R for restart should be respected on the end-of-level screen. The aliased font scaling on the end-of-level screen is particularly ugly. The level designs are interesting, but the poor platforming mechanics caused me to give up before the end of world 1.
thanks for all the responses, they're all valid issues and this game is very, very flawed.
for all the issues, i'm never going to fix them (sorry!) since i've moved on from this game quite a while ago - i mean it's great to fix things but i'm just too busy - my current project is a zelda-like called anodyne (http://www.anodynegame.com ).

Why not on front page?
It was for a little bit! But most good things come to an end, sort of.

Is it related to inquisition Dave?
It's not! I noticed that game after release and was very amused by how similar a title I managed to pick.
