THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INPUT ON THIS ANIMATION! I have another (not good) animation that needs some desperate critique (lol, not all my animations can be like this one), and I would love any constructive crit on that one - ANYTHING helps, and negative is encouraged :)

Remember - any good input in that video helps me continue with this one ;)

ALSO, I WILL be adding a preloader and make it not loop, but it will have to wait until finals are over in a few weeks. Thank you for the suggestion on that!

This was created for my Advanced Drawing class. I was given the task to simply tell a story. I decided to take it further than just a few images and created the backbone to an animation: a storyboard. That being said, this is the reason the drawings are so simple/messy. I needed to get them all done in only a month, so I only had time to do the sketches. Hopefully in the future it will become a full animation ^^ And yes - this is my first attempt at this :)

Throughout the whole process I learned new things, which can be seen in the images themselves (the quality basically changes from image to image). But the top 3 important things I learned were these:

1. Don't edit a video in one night/for 12 hours straight (even though the sunrise was pretty).
2. If you're going to save your layers, then DON'T FLATTEN THE IMAGE YOU IDIOT!
3. Running sequences need to die.

Over the summer I plan on doing some more storyboards set to the music of Florence and the Machine, specifically "My Boy Builds Coffins".

Time taken: 150 hours (including illustrations not here)
Total frames: 304

4/5 for audio
5/5 for visual-effects

I loved the idea, I know you put a whole lot of thought and hard work into it and for that, you deserve to be praised for not going to the mainstream route of flash animations. I have no problems with it and wish you good luck~!

thank you very much!
while i am a huge mythology lover, this was just done out of my own imagination ^^ dryads ARE greek mythology, but in terms of story i didn't take inspiration from much :)

Wow. I was never so astonished of such a stop motion video.
The music fits the video perfectly, I think also the lyrics do so as far as I understood them.
I definitely need the song! It made me sing waching this.
Wanna do a remix. I'd like to start right now.

black-lotus-kitsune responds:

i never knew i liked florence and the machine until i watched an amv with her music; after i watched it and got my assignment, this was immediately born ^^ it's amazing how inspiration can strike sometimes. my teacher always tells us to never go with our first idea, but i'm glad i did in this case :D

Might be just me, but does this have a reference to long-distance romance in the digital age we live in today as well...?

black-lotus-kitsune responds:

i can see it having that message, but that never crossed my mind when creating it ^^
