Daily 2nd place, frontpaged, so many kind reviews and such a nice rating! Well, thanks a lot guys, you're awesome! :D

EDIT: This game was inspired by 'Motherload'. It is about mining ores and selling them to buy upgrades and drill deeper. Utopian Mining is part of this mining genre, so the games share the same basic concept. However, I did my very best to make it different to other mining games, by adding a different atmosphere, a story, some quests, cartoony-8bit-graphics and another feeling to it (and some other small stuff, too).

I hope you enjoy playing it. :)

Welcome to Utopia!
A few days ago a storm destroyed nearly the whole town.
Help these people and find out more about the Core-Ore...
Mine around as a mining robot, earn money, buy better hardware and complete missions.

This game has a few missions, different upgrades for your robot like drills, chasis, cooling liquids and batteries, awesome music made by Kevin MacLeod, some selfmade 8bit sounds, and lots of coal, iron, gold, wolfram, smaragd, ruby and diamonds!

How to play:
'LEFT', 'UP', 'RIGHT', 'DOWN' - move around
'X' - interact with things
'C' - cancel or leave
'J' - jobs
'M' - map
'I' - inventory

it was fun. could've been better if the map was smaller (given the length of the missions/game) and if the shops were in the middle of the map instead of all the way on the left.

i played until every piece of dirt was gone lol. 510,045 in the bank :p

I actually took the time to clear out the entire map, and was disappointed to not get an achievement. Oh well, heh. Otherwise it would have been a 5. And maybe a few more jobs, seemed a little short to me, with so much of the map left after completing the final objective.

very neat game here...reminds me of the old QBASIC days :')

quaint relaxing pixel art, kevin macleod's music always impresses, simple but fun and addicting concept. The difficulty balance is weird, as the game progessively gets easier throughout. and its too easy to screw yourself over when first starting the game. Perhaps the game could be better if it was less linear (more varied job objectives and having the option of selecting multiple jobs at once) and some kind of randomization factor when you go underground to mine for materials. Maybe not though- more missions may make the game a repetitive bore, which you did a good job of avoiding. Overall it was a very enjoyable game.

Very interesting game. I kept expecting something serious and dramatic in the end, but it was just a really happy game. It took forever to dig and get back up, so it was repetitive and I have no idea why I kept playing honestly. Lol. I really liked the achievements, though. Maybe that's what kept pulling me to the end. But basically, it was a nice, simple game that stretches on for a long time.

It's a big nice game, that entertains you a lot of time.
Only get 4.5 stars because it have not so much balance between the levels. On the start of the game is a little bit hard, you need to go down and up everytime. Later, it's more a patience test. XD
But at all, the game is so nice to relax and entertain. Congratulations to the developer!
