Traitor puts you into the shoes of a soldier of the Augustan Hegemony, forced to rise up against your former masters after you're ordered to do something you simply cannot accept. Explore the Aventinus Complex, complete missions, upgrade your ship and gather allies until you can overthrow the tyrants who have brought such misery to the people.

[Note: If you're playing in Firefox and experience odd control problems, try switching to Chrome or Opera.]

[Current version: 1.7]

TIPS:
1. The game opens up after the 4th mission, when you reach the map.
2. Upgrades are available in shops on the map screen.
3. The menu allows you to see your stats, achievements and allies.
4. If a mission is too difficult, try playing a different one and upgrading your ship.
5. In some situations, survival is more important than destroying all enemy ships.

MEDALS:
If your medals aren't unlocking, this is probably because the NG server is having some hiccups. Try reloading the page and see if the preloader ad is being displayed. Then go to the in-game Achievements screen; the game will try to unlock any medals you should already have.

A beautiful game; well done.

A couple of notes, though; some on bugs and some on game play.

First, the game play. I loved the beginning where the missions were actually challenging but completely doable (as long as you spend more time dodging than killing), the difficulty was perfect, but after just a few upgrades, namely the reg. ones, my ship was virtually indestructible. By the time I'd completed ~12 missions I didn't even really bother dodging anymore because I was healing faster than I was taking damage. After that the missions were monotonous because they were all too easy and I collected upgrades only out of compulsion because I was already as powerful as I needed to be. More balanced upgrades, or far more powerful enemies in later levels, would have made the game a lot better for me.

Second, this game still has the occasional bug; here's the ones I found if you're interested in doing another update.

When I loaded the game after beating it I was taken to the game-over 'scene', which isn't ideal in my opinion. Then, when I started a new game after beating it once, supposedly overwriting the old save file, I got to replay the opening but my ship was already maxed and when the opening finished all the missions were already beaten (also, Occator Prime claimed to have -3 upgrades available) so for some reason it didn't really start a new game.

Two other small bugs: the game froze on me several times just as I completed the second scanning mission in the Razna Convolution; I tested this on Chrome & Aurora and got the same result. If I clicked outside of the game, pausing it, when I unpaused it it would advance a little bit and after doing this several times it got over it.

Also, after completing all mission and gaining all upgrades (except the final mission) there were still 2 missions listed for the Nyx Conglomeration that weren't really there (I searched quite thoroughly).

Criticisms aside, it really is a fun shooter, though, and the story aspect is well done. I congratulate you again on making it.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I've just figured out why one of these bugs is happening, and I'll look into the rest. I had the game tested by a lot of people, but with it being so big and some bugs only showing up on some systems, it's frustratingly hard to catch everything.

Very inspriring, I loved the graphics and the designs of the enemies. It seemed like it was missing a few power ups or something though.

loved this game like its been said once or twice its a shame people think that the first 5 mins of game play are buggy. i got the point right away the only thing i had a problem with was trying to find the upgrade places but eventually after taking a few mins to fly around the areas everything made sense. great game and the fact that you didnt have to kill EVERYTHING in every level was what i thought was the best. wave style games are so damn annoying when you pick the wrong upgrade or something. this was such a good game i eneded up playing it for 3 hours start to finish each and every mission while doing chores around the house lol. not very often a game hooks me this well but if i could i would give this game 3 thumbs up if i had an extra thumb lol

This is a spectacular game that I rank up there with greats such as Abobo's Big Adventure. The controls are polished, the game is fun and addicting, and the difficulty level is just perfect. There are no bugs that I could find, so if you're going to write a bad review about this game having too many bugs, you can just shove it. Every control is responsive, the story is engaging, and the sound effects are superb. Art style is confusing at first, but I got used to it. To all you griefers who gave it a bad review:

F*** YOU.
