Traitor puts you into the shoes of a soldier of the Augustan Hegemony, forced to rise up against your former masters after you're ordered to do something you simply cannot accept. Explore the Aventinus Complex, complete missions, upgrade your ship and gather allies until you can overthrow the tyrants who have brought such misery to the people.

[Current version: 1.7]

1. The game opens up after the 4th mission, when you reach the map.
2. Upgrades are available in shops on the map screen.
3. The menu allows you to see your stats, achievements and allies.
4. If a mission is too difficult, try playing a different one and upgrading your ship.
5. In some situations, survival is more important than destroying all enemy ships.

If your medals aren't unlocking, this is probably because the NG server is having some hiccups. Try reloading the page and see if the preloader ad is being displayed. Then go to the in-game Achievements screen; the game will try to unlock any medals you should already have.

Gets boring real quick. So bad. Upgrades don't even make the game more enjoyable.

The game and graphics are pretty cool, and the story is nice (though I think it could be deeper, but it's good the way it is)

but the game can get kinda boring later on. It gets easier as you get upgrades. From the fourth mission, there are a few new things such as "scan" and "mining", so I think there should be more new missions from a certain point, where you begin gathering strengh
And new kinds of upgrades would be cool too, like some radar that warned you from where the next enemy would come (left, right, center..), or some thing to desaccelerate the ship so it could fit between 2 bullets easier, like in those bullet hell games

I think adding these would be cool because on most of the missions it's just evading bullets while holding X and that's it, destroying everything in your way.

cool game but there are some bugs.

for example the game freezes often at advanced game-progress.

The drive of the story, the rich world it takes place in and the RPG-style advancement really make this game different from most others of the genre.

However, the A.I. is kind of boring, and most of the challenge comes from the randomness of projectiles and the toughness of blockades. There could be more weapon uprades as in most other shmups, because this way it felt too much like it was the remake of an old ATARI game. I also found no real use to the reinforcements: I thought they'd stay a while longer, or grind off the screen, or at least help me take out the XXL boulders or something.

I also encountered a weird thing: when I first started the final mission, the game froze up and wouldn't refresh the screen. I don't know if it's a Flash plugin issue or if it's your error, so I'm treating it as a separate issue.

All in all, this game was worth playing, though this whole "Hero of the People" and commie rebellion against the tyrant Empire cliché didn't really suit my ideology, but I still fought for a good cause, so it didn't matter. :D

There was really nothing too special about this game. It has a good solid base, but upgrades are boring and there's little sense of progression since improvements have no visible effect (Attack speed aside). Once you start finding the regeneration upgrades, you may as well have already won. At that point, you can almost just hold X and not move, crashing your way through entire fleets. And crash through fleet after fleet you do, with little to no variations between them. I did enjoy the alien life form levels though, mainly because they offered a slight change of scenery.
There's nothing terribly wrong here, there's just nothing incredibly right either.
