Traitor puts you into the shoes of a soldier of the Augustan Hegemony, forced to rise up against your former masters after you're ordered to do something you simply cannot accept. Explore the Aventinus Complex, complete missions, upgrade your ship and gather allies until you can overthrow the tyrants who have brought such misery to the people.

[Note: If you're playing in Firefox and experience odd control problems, try switching to Chrome or Opera.]

[Current version: 1.7]

TIPS:
1. The game opens up after the 4th mission, when you reach the map.
2. Upgrades are available in shops on the map screen.
3. The menu allows you to see your stats, achievements and allies.
4. If a mission is too difficult, try playing a different one and upgrading your ship.
5. In some situations, survival is more important than destroying all enemy ships.

MEDALS:
If your medals aren't unlocking, this is probably because the NG server is having some hiccups. Try reloading the page and see if the preloader ad is being displayed. Then go to the in-game Achievements screen; the game will try to unlock any medals you should already have.

The first thing that struck me was the art style. Very retro but modern at the same time. I loved it straight away. But after a few minutes I felt I'd soon get bored of this game. I can't really remember why, but in the end, the humour, style, balancing, progression, open-endedness whereas the game type is pretty much linear by definition, odd bit of humour, multiple "minigames" for lack of a better term, and all the hundreds of other bits that are to numerous to mention came together into one really quite extraordinary game. And although I'm not particularly fond of vertical scrollers, I kept playing this till 2.30 in the morning, and it has officially made me a fan of Jonas Kyratzes.

Also worth mentioning are the intro and outro. Whoever says that text doesn't belong in games is a fool, and anyone who says games aren't art have never played one like this.

Keep up the good work.

Marvelous game, with really good history and equally great gameplay. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I love this game. I played through it twice. I like the depth and the freedom to do things in any order. The music is good too, if a bit repetitive. Some tracks reminded me of the music style of StarCraft 1.

The bosses could have been a bit more interesting though imho. Most bosses don't really require a lot of strategy, they just float there doing nothing, most don't shoot anything, and those that do are easy to avoid. In some cases you could even get infinite money and never die by just going to the left and right of the screen, keeping the x key depressed, and get money from all the side-enemies of the boss coming from the top of the screen.

It would have been cool if there were multiple endings.

So hehe, my text about the bad parts was longer than the text about the good parts, but my 5 star score should show how awesome I find the game! :)
