dys4ia is an autobiographical game about the period in my life when i started hormone replacement therapy. it's a story about me, and is certainly not meant to represent the experience of every trans person.

The world needs something like this!!! Gender dysphoria is still way, way, way, way, WAY too little-known and misunderstood in this world. I also love the idea of it being put together as a game, as this is probably the best way of reaching a demographic of increasing size. The levels themselves are easy, but I think it's actually better that way so more people can play through and get the whole story in the process.

Good overall but I'd say that in the spirit of mantaining the narrative flowing you missed some opportunities to insert some more interesting gameplay elements.

There's one example in the screen about going though loops. The text tells me I have to go through "too many loops", but the game just makes me go through 3. What I'm trying to explain is that you could have included more gameplay challenges as metaphors of the real-life challenges you are illustrating.

In short, the game as such didn't compel me very much to keep playing it. All that kept me going was wanting to learn more about your experience.

The graphics and sound have a nice touch to them, and the controls are just right.

I'm not sure whether or not I'm epileptic, that was the only thing I didn't like. You kept things simple, easy, and to the point. I like it.

Love me some art games. We don't get enough submissions that properly use game mechanics as a form of story telling that allow for the user to understand concepts in ways they couldn't as easily in other mediums. 5/5 to counter balance all the idiots who think that something needs a level up system or other generic Skinner box techniques to be a game.

The piece isn't without flaws, but they are few and don't really take away from the overall experience. I feel like the art could be slightly higher resolution, the atari feel seems like it's stretching the concept a bit.
