Awful sound quality...

No explanation of what the hell to do...

When you do finally figure it out by slamming all over the keyboard it just sucks at being fun...

Interesting premise, failed implementation.

This isn't the worst thing I've ever seen. That said, it doesn't really hold up to what a game should be. There are some good things, but overall the experience really doesn't hold much for me.

At its core, the game is a simple brawler. I do mean simple: There is no movement back or forth, dashing seems to be broken, there is only one attack button, and enemies' AI extends as far as "Try to get close enough to the guy with the spear to poke him with a small bit of metal". Health regenerates with enough kills. Nothing new, but certainly not particularly deep.

There's also a backstory which seems fairly well thought-out. Unfortunately, the author needed some proofreading, and the fact that Asian-looking names and combat styles are used really adds to the overall feel of a game developed on the cheap by a Chinese developer, right down to the vague instructions and lack of helpful resources.

The art style is rather favorable: Rather than stick with stick figures or a similar cop-out, the sprites have similar animations to the 16-bit era, which was a nice bit of nostalgia for me. I'm not convinced the sounds were totally necessary, especially considering there is no background music and the same effect for all attacks was used.

There is also a problem where the game breaks when trying to read the messages at the end of what I assume is chapter 2. It is not possible to click the word "next" to get the message to advance, and if you select it using [Tab], it will only let you use [Enter] to read the messages up to <Mrs. Gump...>. Thus, it was not possible to finish the game.

Simplified version of a tried-and-true formula, with more than a couple game-breaking glitches. Points for artwork, penalties for sound and debug issues.
