EDIT: Am I seeing things? FRONT PAGE?! And an award for daily 2nd place?! A big thank you to whoever was behind making this decision! I honestly did not expect this to do so well here on NG, simply because I know there's a good few people that don't like MLP here. Needless to say, I'm shocked and yet honored to have this honor. Thank you!

----------

After about four months of planning, writing, animating and procrastinating (mostly the last one of course, lol), here is the big My Little Pony project I've been working on, which is an animated rendition of the comic on ask-twilightsparkle.tumbl r.com dubbed "True Friendship." Clocking in at almost five minutes (counting the credits), this is my longest animated project yet and also one of my most ambitious.

Rather than do something focused on humor or fast-paced action like most of my recent works, I wanted to make something with a story and do my best to tell it as powerfully as I could throughout the animation. Most of the dream sequence you see here was not in the comic, and was concocted by me and with a little help from the creator of the original comic.

I could go on with how I think some things in it could have turned out much better, such as when full-grown Spike is flying and some of the expressions being a little too funny for this moody animation, but I think I'll keep my mouth shut and let you watch this animation for yourself. I will say though, I'm very happy with how this turned out, especially on the writing and timing front.

I do hope you enjoy the animation! Please let me know what you think of it; I'm all ears!

*is wiping tears, and seems so grateful of this beutiful vid and hilariously bad drawing skills* Meaning behind this:
Don't dwell on the past or future forever.Savor time with your friends right now, as it happens. Today is a gift. That's why they call it "The Present".

*Breaks down in shower* THIS IS JUST.... SO BEUTIFUL!!!!! wait, wt- GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!!!

It doesn't really that it is MLP or that it might be something else. This is a cute animation which reveals a powerful message. It is very heartwarming and true that I have made decisions like that in my past. Great job on this and I would love to see more of this on here. Thank you for this wonderful work of art.

I agree, I would love to see more heartwarming content like this on Newgrounds. This site needs more of it; we have plenty of recognized stuff like There She Is, but not too much recently has come out like this. (I don't stop by NG as often as I used to though, so please forgive me if I'm forgetting about a submission.) I figured that I might as well take a crack at making something emotional, since there just hasn't been much from any communities recently making anything of this kind.

I'll certainly keep pondering ideas for future animations of this type, however I will guarantee you it won't involve MLP. I've had enough of drawing those ponies for now, even if I drew them a little fat apparently, haha.

Sad future. I don't know what will i do if i have a baby dragon. I don't know.

I have been a Brony for 6 years and it was so obvious that it is kinda a little sad for me. I wish that Spike was just like himself for the rest of his entire life.

Also, i wonder who made that letter to Twilight.

:'(

Piggybank12 responds:

6 YEARS?! No offense, but those ugly ponies and that girly-girl stuff they had for years in the MLP franchise were the reason I stayed away from it like the plague. XD

Regardless, I am thrilled to hear you loved the animation and connected with the characters. Maybe Spike grows slowly, maybe he grows fast, but regardless I'm sure he's not going to stay the same forever. Things change, so I suppose they should try to make the most of their time together, right?
