This is the 1st short in a series called Kayla the Klutz. It centers around Kayla Flotsam and the wacky situations she gets into. The shorts are done in a style inspired by classic cartoons, with no dialogue and an emphasis on the animation and action.

Ep. 1: Missed the Bus

After falling asleep at the bus stop, Kayla the klutz missed the bus and is now trying to catch it.

Note: The song was replaced in this video to avoid any copyright issues.

Well.............................

That was fast.
Although, this looks like it's going to be an interesting series.
Can't wait for the next episode.

Decent

Not bad, but there are naturally improvements.

The character is all right, but I'd love to see longer flicks with her. And a... deeper character, if I can put it like that, at least more of a personality.

The animations are all right, a bit choppy, and not very natural. That said, with the style of your graphics, I don't think it needs to look natural, it's all supposed to be a bit silly. Would love to see more texture, shading and lighting added though.

Make it longer, too.

She'll be given more character as time goes on. There wasn't really much I could do to expand on her character traits in this one. Perhaps it would've been better as a second or third episode. Regardless, I do plan on expanding on her character more, though for these shorts at least she'll be mute.

I will continually try to improve the animation in future episodes too, as well as make episodes longer. This was my first real flash project, so there was sure to be some stuff I messed up on. It'll look more natural (hopefully) in future episodes, while retaining a cartoony feel.

As far the last 3 things, don't really expect much textures in it. I prefer, with cartoons anyways, to work with mostly solid colors. Lighting and Shading may be in some bigger animations, but for this series in particular, I'm not sure if future episodes will include it.

Thanks for the critique.

Not bad.

The animation is pretty cool, while it may not look a lot like the style it's inspired into, it still looks like a cartoon and has a simple yet pleasant look. The backgrounds are very well drawn with vivid colors and a nice cartoony feel, which I take as step forward since that's what you were trying to base the animation from.
The music is also very cool, even though you didn't make it, it still was a nice choice and it fit very well with what has happening
I like that the character has this kind of charm that most characters with little dialog have. Kind of like Gordon Freeman. And since this is some kind of series, We'll definitly be seeing Her in the future.
I also like how the characters doesn't gets not even a single scratch after getting hit by the truck, that just makes it look a lot more like the classic cartoons and I felt like it really was the highlight when talking about said department along with the "I give up" sign at the end.
If i'd have to start nitpicking, i'll probably tell you to make the animation a bit smoother, and change the running animation, but then again these are some kind of nitpicks, since the animation was smooth enoungh and the running animation just bugs me for a reason I have yet to know.
Great animation to what will hopefully be a great series!

Yeah, I don't plan on keeping the same running animation for future episodes (though I never really reuse animation, to be honest). I thought it looked fine on the first one, but the second one looked really weird when it was finished.

And I'll try to make the animation smoother in future ones. Thanks for the critique.
