Awesome Tanks is about a top-down shooter where you play as a tank, get upgrades, and beat 15 levels. Upon beating the last level you can use the level editor. The art is looks nice, the music is upbeat and doesn't sound terribly compressed, sound effects are fitting, gameplay is smooth and overall the game provides a fun, albeit short experience.
Indeed this isn't a _bad_ game, but the casual nature of it really holds it back. There's challenge to be found here, sure, but there's no story, high scores, or any gameplay mechanic that gives it replay value or even any longevity outside of grinding a little for upgrades. There's nothing wrong with a casual flash game, however looking at all the polish this has, you begin to wonder how much more this could have been.
On top of that, there's really bizarre decisions made here. Medals in game, but not on NG? A level editor, but no way to save them or a shared creations thing for them? I don't get it.
Fortunately any shortcoming this has is pretty minor in light of how good the rest of it is. No bugs in sight.
