**IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT GAME CONTROLS**
There is a known Internet Explorer browser bug which makes some keys stick when pressed. We promise the problem is not in our game itself, but it's something you can fix if you search for "Internet Explorer Flash Sticky Keys" OR simply use another browser like Firefox. Again, this is not a problem with the code in our game, so if you're experiencing this problem, try one of the aforementioned solutions. Thanks!

Abobo's Big Adventure is a project that we have been working on for YEARS as a true labor of lovewith one goal in mind: To create the ultimate tribute to the NES! This gargantuan 8-bit parody game is made for the fans by the fans, and now you finally have the chance to control the angriest character in the known universe - Abobo!
The story is simple - Abobo's son (Aboboy) has been kidnapped and now it's up to you to help Abobo fight his way through some of the greatest NES games of all time in order to rescue him. This isn't your average 8-bit parody game either... not only is each level a completely different game in which Abobo takes on the characteristics of the main protagonist, but enemies from a wide variety of *other* games appear on each level too! Imagine you could put every NES game ever made into a blender and that's basically what you're dealing with here in the form of a huge Flash game.
We've added in a ton of custom artwork, cutscenes, new rage moves on each level, huge boss battles, secrets, and a whopping 100 medals for you to unlock! In addition to that, we've created what we consider to be the most satisfying ending of any game you'll ever see. Sure, on classic NES games they often rewarded you with a simple "Congratulations! Game Over." after you spent hours working your way towards the end. That's not the case here - we've worked up one big ending that you'll remember for the rest of your life! Plus, when you beat the game, you'll unlock even more goodies to play with!
You'll also be happy to learn that we've created a convenient Level Select screen which automatically unlocks levels as you beat them. You don't have to beat the game in one sitting... you can always come back and use the Level Select to pick up right where you left off. You can also use it to replay any level if you need to try to unlock additional medals that you missed out on during your first play-through.
Last but not least, if you enjoy this massive game project of ours, please consider making a donation to our indie cause. We've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game (mainly because Abobo kept punching us throughout its development), so your donations would be greatly appreciated and will go towards our creating future games and/or paying our hospital bills from Abobo's constant beatings. PLUS - as a token of our appreciation, anybody who makes a donation will also receive a free copy of our 100% original new mini-game, Aboboy's Small Adventure!
In closing, we'd like to thank all of our friends, families, and Newgrounds for their unwavering support over the years as we've continued to work on this huge project. It really meant the world and helped us make Abobo's Big Adventure something truly special. It's hard to imagine that this project started out all the way back in 2002... Abobo sure has come a long way with his angry fists. Thanks for playing our game and making this 8-bit dream come true.

A great tribute to NES
I don't usually write long reviews but damn it, this game deserves it.
Is it the ultimate NES tribute? Yes, so far it is, but it could have been better. Now, don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game. The main character is awesome, the story is so silly and so NES-like, and all the video games and pop cultural references are top notch. Gameplay is great too. Every single stage plays and feels like the game it parodies.
But as I was playing the game I was saying more and more "Gosh, I wish they added "this" or "that" in the game.", and by that I mean that there are so many missed opportunities. For example, Zelda stage, dear god, I have so many problems with this one, not because it is hard or because you have to backtrack constantly, but it is so damn boring. Couldn't there be an RPG styled battle against a mini-boss, or a Bomberman mini-boss in the Zelda stage which you would battle in a true Bomberman fashion. Seriously, how could you not think of Bomberman? That would be freakin awesome. With that said, the Old Man boss is probably the best boss of the game.
I would say Little Mac was the best boss, but man, he is way too easy.
Speaking of bosses, every single boss fight was amazing. It is like a cherry on the top of an ice-cream of every level.
And the use of enemies is just perfect. Shy Guy's in Zelda dungeon, Blaster Master in Mega Man stage (which has the best use of enemies), Jason in Contra stage...this game is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get.
I also have to mention medals. I am not a big fan of medals in any game, but in this one it works. Medals are imaginative and funny and they are nice for some replayability. Still, I don't think I will work my ass off to beat Balloon Fight level without being hit. Finding secret medals was fun too.
Was I disappointed by the game? Not at all. I like every minute that I spend with it, but like I said, I would like to see RPG battle and Bomberman battle, just to spice things up in the Zelda level. Hope you can update the game with those features.
And heck, why wouldn't you update it every now and then with some new cameos and mini-bosses :)
So yeah, that is it from me. Thank you for making such a wonderful game and for making my free time less boring :D

This is my childhood come alive again in a hilarious parody. The music, the characters, the frustration (the quickman level). All you needed to add is the battletoads level on the motor bike. Brilliant game, I hope the younger players understand what an amazing amount of nostalgia this brings to us older gamers. Keep the great work.

Best game ever!
I was wondering why this had gotten up so quickly to the front page, because it's so epic!
I've never played a game before that has combined all the aspects of famous NES games (besides Super Mario Crossover) in one package, and did it flawlessly. People who are giving this game a low score obviously do not know how the NES era changed video gaming as we knew it. Developers weren't screwing around with their games, if you couldn't handle the difficulty, then you would just go cry in the corner until the modern games came and screwed that up.
This game is incredibly fun! It's a bit difficult at points, and I'm still not finished with it. I'm currently on the Balloon Fight level, and I'm just stumped. I'll get it eventually though.
I loved how you even included some famous easter eggs. Most notably to me so far is the one in the first level with the elevator shaft. It was pretty hilarious and I wasn't expecting that!
This game shows that not all games have to be incredibly easy and pussy-footed to be fun. If you have the humor, challenge, and most of all, replay value, then you got yourself one of the best games I've ever played on Newgrounds. And that is truthfully saying a lot!

AMAZING
This game is probably the best game that I have seen on this site! All of the great games from the NES compacted into one ridiculously awesome flash game! 1000000/10
