There is a known Internet Explorer browser bug which makes some keys stick when pressed. We promise the problem is not in our game itself, but it's something you can fix if you search for "Internet Explorer Flash Sticky Keys" OR simply use another browser like Firefox. Again, this is not a problem with the code in our game, so if you're experiencing this problem, try one of the aforementioned solutions. Thanks!

If you're stuck on the zelda room with dig dug, the block in the middle is sparkling for a reason!
Abobo's Big Adventure is a project that we have been working on for YEARS as a true labor of lovewith one goal in mind: To create the ultimate tribute to the NES! This gargantuan 8-bit parody game is made for the fans by the fans, and now you finally have the chance to control the angriest character in the known universe - Abobo!

The story is simple - Abobo's son (Aboboy) has been kidnapped and now it's up to you to help Abobo fight his way through some of the greatest NES games of all time in order to rescue him. This isn't your average 8-bit parody game either... not only is each level a completely different game in which Abobo takes on the characteristics of the main protagonist, but enemies from a wide variety of *other* games appear on each level too! Imagine you could put every NES game ever made into a blender and that's basically what you're dealing with here in the form of a huge Flash game.

We've added in a ton of custom artwork, cutscenes, new rage moves on each level, huge boss battles, secrets, and a whopping 100 medals for you to unlock! In addition to that, we've created what we consider to be the most satisfying ending of any game you'll ever see. Sure, on classic NES games they often rewarded you with a simple "Congratulations! Game Over." after you spent hours working your way towards the end. That's not the case here - we've worked up one big ending that you'll remember for the rest of your life! Plus, when you beat the game, you'll unlock even more goodies to play with!

You'll also be happy to learn that we've created a convenient Level Select screen which automatically unlocks levels as you beat them. You don't have to beat the game in one sitting... you can always come back and use the Level Select to pick up right where you left off. You can also use it to replay any level if you need to try to unlock additional medals that you missed out on during your first play-through.

Last but not least, if you enjoy this massive game project of ours, please consider making a donation to our indie cause. We've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game (mainly because Abobo kept punching us throughout its development), so your donations would be greatly appreciated and will go towards our creating future games and/or paying our hospital bills from Abobo's constant beatings. PLUS - as a token of our appreciation, anybody who makes a donation will also receive a free copy of our 100% original new mini-game, Aboboy's Small Adventure!

In closing, we'd like to thank all of our friends, families, and Newgrounds for their unwavering support over the years as we've continued to work on this huge project. It really meant the world and helped us make Abobo's Big Adventure something truly special. It's hard to imagine that this project started out all the way back in 2002... Abobo sure has come a long way with his angry fists. Thanks for playing our game and making this 8-bit dream come true.

I'm enjoying this game immensely, but can't get the final boss fight to start.

It goes through the profile screen, round 1, and loads the ring, but all that happens is Mac and the Ref stand motionless while Abobo jukes in his corner with 0:00 on the clock. I've reloaded, refreshed, and even closed and reopened the browser, but that is all that ever happens.

I very much wish I could finish, as it's been a blast up to this point.

Abobo responds:

Sounds like there might be a partially loaded sound. I'd recommend clearing your internet cache and reloading the game, then jump to the final boss from the menu select.

PM me if that doesn't work.

A true tribute to the NES

This game has everything you could dream of in a game. With different styles of playing it's hard not to find your favorite one.

Art from the great POXPOWER can only mean, that this will be even better. Each and every piece of art in this game is perfectly done and looks very good. I'm not a big fan of sprites but you guys pulled it off.

This game took 10 years to make so the story has to be good. And it is, basically a "saving this person" type of game which makes it relate even more to NES games.

great video game like music nothing to complain about.

Game play

This game only has no faults to complain about. I have not found one thing that is the matter with the game play. It is challenging but that's what makes it a game that you want to play again, and again.

I cannot express how awesome this game is!

surprise after surprise, it just makes me happy

I never, ever write reviews, but this one deserves it. Really, it's not a game, it's a Masterpiece. You can tell from the very loader, that animation with the cartridge is just hilarious, because all of us did it... how deep it touched on "memoirs".
The gameplay, the music, the humor, its funny enough, but if you have played those games on NES or emus, is hysterical hilarious.
Technically, is well done.
Music is very good.
Level design is so close to the originals that I feel like I played like 10 different games all within the same storyline.
And the gags, are unlimited, which reminds me the best scene of the game when you have to obtain unlimited lives, men! that was unexpected and so pleasing.. best part is that I almost remember the full code :)

one word? BEAUTIFUL

This game reminded me of the main reason why I got to Newgrounds in the first place: Seeing games I knew from my childhood from a whole new perspective. Abobos Big Adventure did exactly that. I went through almost any famous title from the NES and saw it through the eyes of Abobo, a bad guy. There were eight different stages, all with different gameplay and everyone of them was a tour back to the past as well as a challenging level.
One could say the graphics were very poor for modern standart, even for Flashgames but they are perfectly fitting for the game. I liked the creative use of old sprites in different environments like Death in the Balloon-Fighter Stage or Donkey Kong in the first level.
All the musics and sounds were taken from NES games. As well as the graphics they were fitting for the game and any modern music would have destroyed the atmosphere.
I could talk for ages about how good the gameplay was, how well the games from the NES were put into this game but let's be a bit nitpicking for a change:
- Many of the enemys in the Contra Stage were put in poorly and were easy to avoid. In the first Bossfight against Kirby you could lie in the far left corner and just shoot him to death without any risk of getting hit. In the second stage many enemys could not hit me if I moved slowly up and took them down one by one.
- The fight against The Amazon was a bit chaotic in my opinion. A lot of times I did not know why he could throw me even though I grabed him and chose a directon very quickly, probably because I don't know the game this stage was based on. On the other hand the fight was to easy, as I began with three lives and needed merely one to defeat him the first try.
- In one room in the Zelda Stage I could only go through an open door after I defeated all sceletons in the room.
- If you lick while going through the pipe at the end of the Mario Stage, the tong remains on the screen while Abobo goes through the pipe.

Well these were very minor complains. It would have been great seeing a Metroid/ Castlevania or Ghouls and Goblins based Stage but it would have been probably to much.
At the moment I am clueless on how to obtain the last two medals, I know where to get one, but not how and the Thriller medal is still a mystery to me.
Overall I can say that this games was one of the few in the past years that got me playing. Unlike others this game was neither to hard, nor to easy, had reasonable challenges and an overall great nostalgic theme.
I will give it a 10/10 and a 5/5 and it is the least this game deserves.
