There is a known Internet Explorer browser bug which makes some keys stick when pressed. We promise the problem is not in our game itself, but it's something you can fix if you search for "Internet Explorer Flash Sticky Keys" OR simply use another browser like Firefox. Again, this is not a problem with the code in our game, so if you're experiencing this problem, try one of the aforementioned solutions. Thanks!

GAME SAVE = Automatic! Use level select from main menu for saved levels

Abobo's Big Adventure is a project that we have been working on for YEARS as a true labor of lovewith one goal in mind: To create the ultimate tribute to the NES! This gargantuan 8-bit parody game is made for the fans by the fans, and now you finally have the chance to control the angriest character in the known universe - Abobo!

The story is simple - Abobo's son (Aboboy) has been kidnapped and now it's up to you to help Abobo fight his way through some of the greatest NES games of all time in order to rescue him. This isn't your average 8-bit parody game either... not only is each level a completely different game in which Abobo takes on the characteristics of the main protagonist, but enemies from a wide variety of *other* games appear on each level too! Imagine you could put every NES game ever made into a blender and that's basically what you're dealing with here in the form of a huge Flash game.

We've added in a ton of custom artwork, cutscenes, new rage moves on each level, huge boss battles, secrets, and a whopping 100 medals for you to unlock! In addition to that, we've created what we consider to be the most satisfying ending of any game you'll ever see. Sure, on classic NES games they often rewarded you with a simple "Congratulations! Game Over." after you spent hours working your way towards the end. That's not the case here - we've worked up one big ending that you'll remember for the rest of your life! Plus, when you beat the game, you'll unlock even more goodies to play with!

You'll also be happy to learn that we've created a convenient Level Select screen which automatically unlocks levels as you beat them. You don't have to beat the game in one sitting... you can always come back and use the Level Select to pick up right where you left off. You can also use it to replay any level if you need to try to unlock additional medals that you missed out on during your first play-through.

Last but not least, if you enjoy this massive game project of ours, please consider making a donation to our indie cause. We've put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into this game (mainly because Abobo kept punching us throughout its development), so your donations would be greatly appreciated and will go towards our creating future games and/or paying our hospital bills from Abobo's constant beatings. PLUS - as a token of our appreciation, anybody who makes a donation will also receive a free copy of our 100% original new mini-game, Aboboy's Small Adventure!

In closing, we'd like to thank all of our friends, families, and Newgrounds for their unwavering support over the years as we've continued to work on this huge project. It really meant the world and helped us make Abobo's Big Adventure something truly special. It's hard to imagine that this project started out all the way back in 2002... Abobo sure has come a long way with his angry fists. Thanks for playing our game and making this 8-bit dream come true.

I know I suck but...

After all these years, I'm still no good at the side-scrolling fighter of the NES style. I didn't even clear the first full area and ran into a few things that forced me to figure out how to play better really fast. All the same, I think I have found a legitimate bug.

Short Version:
Fighting Shooter Gavin
Killed at the same moment of getting Full Rage
Body goes into pit (moving belt) while dying/dead
Respawned with no control over character.
Re-clicking in the game screen did not return control.
Had to be killed for game to reset and read keyboard inputs again.

Detailed Version:
I got the "Fooled You" medal and figured the fight with Shooter Gavin was going decently well. Then I goofed up and he KO'd me, on the ramp, and I was thrown into the pit after/while dying PLUS I had just unlocked Full Rage so the A+S was showing on the screen despite my having just died. When I respawned, I had lost control of Agbobo. Keyboard inputs (movement and attack) were not responding and Shooter Gavin was free to shoot me to death. My theory is that I lost keyboard control because I was trying to hit A+S after dying (since it was displaying) and the game thought it was doing the full rage cut scene or something (it did not happen).

I'm going to keep playing this when I'm feeling patient again. This game style is really hard for me, but I really like it! I do!

Were you playing on version 1.3 when it happened? PM me

This game is awesome.

I really appreciate the developer's hard work on this game. The decade that it took to make this really shows, as everything about it is perfectly done.

Obviously a great game...

I could kiss this team of developer's asses for the entire review, but all the possible praise in the world has been given in the below reviews already, so I'll just suggest a few things to break your backs even more next time (Because a LITTLE criticism can't hurt). First: A menu button that lets you a) Go back to the main menu and b) lets you change levels on the fly. I love playing all these levels, but medal hunting is made slightly annoying when I have to close the game every time I don't want to have to finish a level. Second: ......Honestly, that's all the criticism I could muster. Jesus this game is near perfection. Perfect challenge, not too hard or easy; perfect amount of nostalgia and references, not shoving anything down your throat (Well, arguably); perfect art; perfect amount of humour... Golly gosh, and I thought I wouldn't be kissing asses. Only other thing I could possibly say about this game that isn't saying it's perfection is the fact that I want more of it. "Only eight levels? Waaah, I want more!" After a DECADE of hard work, that would make me a complete ass. So I leave you with that: Pause menu buttons. Only thing this game needs. I now love you, Team Bobo. Make another one. Please. Thank you.
TL;DR: This game needs pause menu buttons but is still perfection. 10/10 5/5
P.S. Anyone else notice I said "ass" thrice in this "review"? Funny.

Great game! Hours well spent.

I very much enjoyed playing this; I beat it twice just to see what I missed.

It would have been fun to see a Final Fantasy 1 segment...Maybe next time, in a sequel?

To the developers: Great job!

Phenomenal! Top 50 of NGs TRUE ALL TIME.

I have never laughed out loud, or thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay of a flash game like I have this....EVER. From beginning to end, it's just non-stop entertainment. ESPECIALLY with the challenge.

The NES games were particular very hard. Especially with no such things as continues or what have you; once it's game over, it's game over. Even still, while this flash game MERCIFULLY allows us some continuation on a chapter by chapter basis, it's still very challenging, and ALLLL the more satisfying once we earn that ending.

To the NG achievement whores, this is nothing short of a complex goldmine for you.

I'm personally a Mega Man fan, so I was a little miffed that Megabobo couldn't slide; that would've REALLY come in handy for the boss fight with Robobobo. That's really my only huge criticism, and yet I cant bring myself to score this any less than a 10. The craftsmanship along with the entertainment value is too great to ignore.

I actually laughed out loud A LOT while I was playing through this. It just screams NG humor, while simultaneously brining something fresh, yet nostalgic to the table. It's unreal! I absolutely loved this. The boss fights, the mechanics, it's just a wild, wild trip. I especially love the Balloon Fight DEATH BLOSSOM special! Abobo would have been a fantastic Last Starfighter!

I have 2,700 characters left, and really the rest of the body of my review would have been gushing over everything I liked. A lot of time was spent on this, and admittedly, the hype that was attributed to it with the front page countdown clocked immediately implied to me that it might suck. I'm SUPER RELIEVED that when NG makes a countdown clock for a submission, they mean business. This absolutely exceeded my expectations, and it rocked my socks off. This was damn fun, and really funny. 5! 5! 5! 5! 6!...err...5!

This was excellent! Damn all the haters, for they do not matter!

And hey, Haters! Try playing this on Firefox like someone who's not a fucking idiot. lol

Thank you for the badass game.

Abobo responds:

We argued a bit over whether to allow sliding, but decided to not include it since it was not in the original megaman 2 that the level was based on.

Thanks for the review, we love hearing from people like you that really connected with and "get" the game!
