Author Comments

"The owl men are here, and they're so very hungry."

Gary Mason, former head of security, Outpost:Haven.

A distress call wakes you and your crew mate from C-Sleep. A suspected rad leak at the nearby Outpost space station needs investigating. Don't worry, it should just be a quick jump in, jump out job...

< Edit - Just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone whose taken the time to play, vote and review the game. We may not have replied to all the comments but we have read them all, even the mental ones. Cheers - Squize >

Good, but could be much better.

First, I understand how you're doing the movement, however I feel it just doesn't work well and the character moves much too slowly at times and much faster in other random situations. Next, the game could use a few tweaks so weapons work in both versions and to fix few glitches I encountered (don't remember where, sorry). I just really feel that an improved movement or a sprint option would improve this game tenfold, thus most of the other comments seem to all focus on this issue, from what I've read. Another issue I found was (this could just be me, but I'm not sure) the sound seemed a tad unproportional at times. I usually keep my sound pretty low but I found myself having to turn it up quite a bit for somethings and others would blow my eardrums out (such as the loud gunfire or blasting music), but again, this could just be my poor computers problem. Overall, the game has a good story, the pause/PDA menu a bit odd to navigate at first, yet a very fun game, much like Alien Breed/Swarm. Definately an 8/10 due to the few glitches and slow movement.

Squize responds:

I'm picking up a "Faster movement" vibe from some of these reviews ;)
I don't want to add it to this game as I'm really worried doing that will
a) Throw the balance off.
b) Create a million new bugs.
b is the main one, it still freaks me out how many bugs people have reported when it really was tested to death.
As to the sounds, when there are explosions triggering, it does get a little messy mix wise.
Thanks for the feedback, I always smile when someone references Alien Breed, there are obviously a lot of Amiga owners still playing hard.

One bug

Awesome game. But after I played through the story, all the guns I had bought in Story Mode were unavailable in Swarm... :(

Squize responds:

So many people are saying that, like I said above I did look into it when it's first been flagged up, and it's something I've never had.
Thanks for the feedback, and good work on completing story mode :)

nice game

Great game although, whenever a alien touched you you were basically dead because your character moves VERY slow. Besides that it was a great game

The game has alot of potential if you update it over time it already great in my standards maybe the first thing you could update is maybe a sprint for your character that would be great, nice job on the game

Didn't like it

The gameplay is too slow and not challenging.
I got bored very quickly.

It's resemble and old game called "Alien Breed", and seems to be kind of a remake attempt which didn't capture the original game's scary and stressing atmosphere.

Squize responds:

Sorry it wasn't your thing, that whole thing about not being able to please all the people all the time.
And yes, it's totally based on the original Alien Breed games on the Amiga. Grab an emulator and give them a go, they're not as good as you remembered.
