Heres why that comment the guard says makes sense.
The guards of skyrim are normal folks so an arrow to the knee joint would cripple them, While the Dovakine him/herself would thanks to his/her dragonic heritage would be hardy enough to resist crippleing wounds and not become lame in the leg from an arrow shot to the leg joint and also sleeping six hours lets him/her heal wounds that would take a normal man/woman weeks or mounths to heal. I hope this clears somethings up.
