Thank you all VERY much for all the feedback so far!
New question:
Q: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT MELEE ATTACKS (press 'a' to attack) INSTEAD OF PROJECTILES (mouse to aim and fire)?
a) keyboard + mouse all the way! keep the projectiles!
b) as long as it has upgrades and a story, i'm happy
c) hm, i'm not sure, and it doesn't seem like a terrible idea.. try it!
d) i like swords and melee weapons! love it. do it.
e) ... [other]
Also, I'm considering putting together a series of video tutorials to show exactly how I made this game (from scratch, start to finish), as well as providing source code and source "artwork." Some preliminary tutorial videos are at www.bigtac.com under the tutorials tab.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this!

Surprising but good
At first I wasn't too thrilled...but after playing it through...wow, I mean, it's a simple concept but surprisingly nifty. The simple nature of it actually added a kinda of elegance. Wouldn't mind seeing some expansion on this...more story, actual levels to traverse, upgrades...Dunno about adding melee, but it could be something to fool around with to see.
Anyways, good work, let's get another some day!

Very well done.
I really loved the gameplay of this particular game. The slow-motion feature was very fun to use and gave this game a unique.
A few things that could be improved upon for future submissions would be more varied backgrounds and enemies. I found they stayed pretty much the same colour-wise throughout the game. Something that I think would be really fun would be the addition of more weapons. An implementation of the lightsaber used by Ninja Vader would be really interesting to see with slow-motion.
Overall, very good job. I felt this game was quite polished in spite of the few improvements needed.

So freaking cool!
As a player i dont feel restrained at all but there is still a difficulty to overcome, in short this game is brilliant! Add some sort of upgrades for episode 2 :).
thanks for the great feedback! i'll definitely add upgrades for the next one (working on it already)

Good stuff
Solid steady game play, with good dialogue. I would like to see you do more with the game, such as upgrades, new levels and more enemies. But a very good start to a series.
upgrades. levels. enemies. Check!

Not to bad.
The music was good, action is smooth. The fighting aspect is not bad at all.
However the red enemy star bullet time paused actually prevent you from effectively jumping them.
It would help a bit if instead of clicking anywhere to advance the story if you made a click on advance button in the text bubble. I advanced the story before i wanted to because i was still throwing stars like a crazy person.
Good game, just needs some smoothing out.
this kind of detailed feedback is very helpful for me to make more and more refined games. thank you.
