Some of you may have noticed the Easter Egg in my latest animation, C. Crashing a Wedding, in which I sneaked Derpy Hooves as one of the horses pulling the Cyclops's carriage. Well, now, after two months of animating, I have finished my full-length flash movie featuring her.
Derpy Cardcaptor, as the title suggests, is a parody of the japanese Cardcaptor Sakura opening theme, featuring the background pony from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
I know some of you may hate it just because it's about an anime, or ponies, or both. I understand. The only reason I submit this here is because I hope I'll get at least a few reviews that are actually helpful and tell me what I did right about the art/animation itself, and how to improve, instead of just ranting about how much they hate the show it is about.
So now dim the lights and enjoy the movie!

I hate both the shows...
But honestly, that was amazingly put together! Congrats to you. The animation was fluid, the song was amazingly clear, the characters seemed to fit very well...
And, I love muffins... So I can't deny that. Amazing job, I hope to see more from you soon.

Well, that was interesting.
A damn near perfect recast of the Sakura Cardcaptor opening. Your attention to detail is astoundingly accurate...perhaps a bit too much.
The animation itself is pretty decent. It flows, the timing is great. There is a difference in quality between this and the Sakura opening, but seeing as one was made by an animation team in the 90's in Japan...
As for further direction, you focus a bit too much on the existing pose in the sakura, and simply copy-pasting it. A nice moment where this didn't happen was the scene where Sakura is sitting on the tower, staring out at the clouds, whereas Derpy hooves is hovering next to wreckage with a concerned look on her face. That was a nice moment where we get to see "Derpy Hooves", and not just 'Sakura' in pony form. And another is when Derpy is visibly holding a muffin in her mouth with an iconic look plastered on her face.
It is a very nice, aesthetic animation. But it lacks the charm of your earlier works, that diversion down into the path of mockery. This is good: to make it great in my opinion, I would like to see more ... 'derp'. Derpy doing things in the Sakura video, but messing up somehow. Flying into things. getting absolutely distracting from the pose at hand by eating muffins. Wandering around aimlessly. I'm no expert on the subject, but I'm sure you could invent something like that. It's just a suggestion: do what you want with it.
At any rate, great job, and I look forward to seeing your further submissions.
