This week were starting a new series, Patch Parables. This one's a little shorter than Spirit Science, but the messages are just as powerful, if not even more thought pondering than SS. Don't worry, Spirit Science will be back in good time! But first, let's talk philosophy on life.

This weeks Parable - The Parable of the Sandcastles. An ancient Buddhist Parable which I read in the pocket "teachings of buddha" book i bought in Santa Barbara. (Spirit Quest 11 for more).

meaning? life lessons? on newgrounds?

this is a really nice change from the usual fare here- video games and parodies, and it's an interesting and important message. empathy and sympathy are in short supply.

as an atheist, the amassment of personal wealth makes sense- when you're done, you're done- and you want to enjoy what you've got while you've got it. imagine that the kids are all cancer patients with only a day to live- would you ask them to give up their castles?

Meh

I thought it's something new, but I already knew.

Anyways, at least it's simple, but how would you know some people will just accept? They might pull that Christian card, and everything will come down collapse like a sand castle being kicked ;) I thought you could've done better on explaining & defining things.

Good Animation

Your animation style is very well done,
The audio is also very well done with no downsides.
Your message is a good one which I interpret as "be good to other people"
I however do not agree with the rest of your message or the particular statement of "when the world ends"
there have been countless predictions on the date of the end of the world that have been wrong what is to say that any current prediction for the end of the world being nigh is any more accurate than any of those that have come before.
I remember that the world was supposed to end in 2000 and that didn't happen, and then again in 2001, and again in 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010, and most recently on May 21 2011.
there are over 242 previous dates that the world was supposed to end that have come and gone. do a google search for "dates the world was supposed to end" and you can see how wrong we can get with this "the world is gonna end soon" stuff.

that's it for my opinion on the dooms day thing.
Keep on making these tho I appreciate the message encouraging people to improve themselves and how they treat others around them it is a good message.

JordanD responds:

I never said the world is ending, in the video we said "in the following years as the world collapses", implying our social structure and understanding of government systems necessary for humans to thrive. The present system just isn't sustainable.

loved it.

Not sure if this applies but i do believe in the forces of good will, an example in my point of view is karma. i give, i care, and i selflessly try to put forth the needs of others on a whim over mine when possible. I've experienced on many occasions where karma has given back and have never felt more attuned with some outside force i cant explain; but i lead a happy life knowing that i do good and generally feel genuine about it later; Don't get me wrong, i don't mostly expect good things to happen in return, they just do and i'm thankful to what outside force is behind it or maybe its just coincidence; who knows? anyway loved this segment, you two speak so harmoniously wonderful together in unison. Oh by the way, will you talk about karma in one of the parables? It would be great to hear your perspective of that!

thanks again jordan and Vanessa!

JordanD responds:

I don't think Karma comes up in a parable, but that is a topic i would like to discuss :D
