Midterm project for my one animation class. We needed to have a bird fly from one part of a forest to another and land near a cabin. We were supposed to finish it in class, but my professor liked what I was working on and gave me more time. It's not the most complicated thing ever, but I'm still getting used to flash (a.k.a. learning how to do things the hard way, then finding out there's a simple short-cut). Looking for criticism.

peaceful/uneventfull

+ Attention to detail
+ hidden cameo
+ Artwork looked pretty good.
- There was an expectation to hear wings flapping since the 'camera' was so close to the bird.

Minor tweaks i would suggest (not important enough to lose points):
? I would tint the mountain into the sky and shade the background items; for depth.
? The perspecive of the cabin seemed 'exaggerated'. (vanish-points too close?)

This-is-Eskimoe responds:

*smacks head* whops. I tinted some of the trees slightly but I definitely forgot the mts. The look of the cabin (everything really) is experimental. I'll eventually work out a style of how I want to animate. Thanks for the helpful review. :)

Definitely a good start

I just want to get this out of the way because I know you know that it's the biggest problem with the animation - the length. I really don't need to say much else about this but you should know that for your future submissions you should try and pad it out a little. Strong foundation for an animations though.

Graphically is was aesthetically appealing, nothing was an eyesore and it felt much better to watch than a good amount of content currently on Newgrounds.

Sound was pretty average, there were some clunky transitions between ambient sounds but I can forgive that because you said you are relatively new to flash.

Keep up the good work, I expect this to make it through the portal but you should definitely get some more lengthier content out in the future!

This-is-Eskimoe responds:

Thanks. This was just for a midterm (basically a "long" exercise). I unfortunately didn't have more time to work on the sound. Plan to get full length work on here down the road.

Meh.

It was short and uneventful. I did like your backgrounds and I also saw that while the flying animation was choppy, you did try to make it look like the bird was scooping the air behind it, which is accurate to how some birds fly. Not bad.

This-is-Eskimoe responds:

The reason for why it's so short is this was supposed to be finished in a 3 hr class.
But I'm glad you liked some of the visuals.
