11/8/11 Still working on the medals guys, hang in there. Also tried some more optimizing to fix the slippery/sticky controls issue some of you have. (also, if you have a FB tab up, try closing that)

**CONTROLS** LEFT/RIGHT walk left/right UP = Jump DOWN = Raise shield (while standing)/Use Weapon(later in game,while standing)

Oyeatia, creator and god of man surrenders his deity, descending to the green earth in search of a lost love. Gyossait sleeps in the warm black heart of the dying planet, her dreams seep into the weakening minds of man. The end begins.

Update History:

11/5/11 Patched vanishing keys, walking off map, alternative ending, Medals implemented but pending.

For a piece of art. Not so great for a game. Yes, as it's been said, the controls were frustrating. The ability to stop your jump with the down arrow would've been nice. Then you could have used the x button or space for defend/attack. I liked the atmosphere and the art blah blah blah. Symbolism, interpretation, religion, intended message, folly of man. All the words are there, whatever. Overall, great job, I enjoyed the ride. Also, is there more than one ending? I only played through once cus it's kind of slow moving. I felt like there was an aggressive and passive way to play it though. I killed the person(?) with that spike thing, but it looked like there was a separate path further down.

Jimmy: Who "know" this game is crap?

If you ask me, that's all based on opinion. And if you really think that this flash submission is supposed to be blamed, you obviously know nothing about flash. Which appears to be the case. A lot of work went into this and it is a game that is more about art than gameplay, since the gameplay can be pretty bad. I wouldn't give this game 10, because of that lacking point, but I won't give it 0, just because a flash game was receiving too good critique.

not bad

This is your piece of art, so everything you did was done right. However, my personal opinion, because it has been presented to me to play and to judge, i have deemed the story to be to unclear in it's delivery. I have no clue what this is about and notice a spelling error.

Creepy and atmospheric.

Like some other people have said, it'd be nice to shield in midair and some of the timing "puzzles" are ridiculously hard.

Overall though I love this game, and its storyline. Really a cool idea.

People shouldn't hate so much on art games

I found this game to be a well spent hour or so of my time. The atmosphere and tension builds extremely well. The writing that is intermittent throughout the game is actually well done: i believe it very well aids to the experience without shattering any fourth walls. All in all, job well done. Controls could be better, and some areas are unnecessarily punishing to the player, but I think that this can be overlooked. Sound design is fantastic. Its very fitting for the visuals...minimalist but effective. The game doesn't slap you in the face with atmosphere, it invites you into it. I was particularly taken aback during the portion about 3/4 of the way through in which the player is launched into the sky and the large triangle amidst a red background becomes visible as the character emerges from the darkness. Well done, and quite an epic set piece. Clearly, other reviewers haven't learned from games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or Penumbra. This is certainly the most absorbed I've gotten in any 8-bit side scroller.
