11/8/11 Still working on the medals guys, hang in there. Also tried some more optimizing to fix the slippery/sticky controls issue some of you have. (also, if you have a FB tab up, try closing that)

**CONTROLS** LEFT/RIGHT walk left/right UP = Jump DOWN = Raise shield (while standing)/Use Weapon(later in game,while standing)

Oyeatia, creator and god of man surrenders his deity, descending to the green earth in search of a lost love. Gyossait sleeps in the warm black heart of the dying planet, her dreams seep into the weakening minds of man. The end begins.

Update History:

11/5/11 Patched vanishing keys, walking off map, alternative ending, Medals implemented but pending.

The atmosphere is brooding, the graphics beautiful, the sound design haunting. Really, really effective creation of mood, especially within a platformer. Even the slightly challenging controls helped that for me; seemed consistent with a banished and burdened god among men. Very well done.

Good concept, poor gameplay.

I really thought that the art direction for this game was spot-on. Really atmospheric, clever, original. Having the words scattered across the background was a good concept... though they were hard to read sometimes, I think that was on purpose, and hardly mattered much anyway. A couple cheap scares, a couple slow ones, overall a good balance.

The gameplay itself needs some tweaking. Well, a lot of tweaking. Jumping is too floaty, acceleration is too slow. Hitting a platform on the side not only kills your sideways momentum, but often your upwards momentum too. Water (water!) kills you. Just lots of frustrating deaths. To your credit, none of the enemies themselves are too difficult, so it seems like you were cognizant of the problems.

Really, it's a good game, well structured, good length, good rhythm... it's just about halfway through it stopped being fun for me.

Fustrating at times, but good.

Some parts of this game (like that stupid Blower-plant next to two spike pillars bit) rely more on dumb luck than anything (since the pillars go out of sync with each other and the plant), but if you can look past the occasional frustrating bit this is still a really good game. The jump physics could use a little work though.

Also for those who care the Secret Medals are:
10 points: Get hit by an enemy bullet so that your corpse lands in spikes/water.

25 points: Find the hidden message (it's to the right of the key in the area with the girl who likes flowers, jump off the platform the key is on.)

100 points: Complete the game without killing anyone with the gun (shield deflecting is fine, as is using the gun to shoot down walls.)

A solid and very interesting game.

The controls are very responsive (once we tried a bit).
The player CAN kill some of the enemies.
The sounds and general environment of the game are unsetling and alien: wich is a good thing for this kind of games.
The story is unfold slowly, instead of being presented to the player in a plate.
The dificulty level is pretty reasonable, far from impossible, far from mind-numbing easy...
I, simply, liked the game.
To the author i can only say: keep the good work!
