Love the concept

Gameplays okay, jumps a bit touchy. My big problem is the keys disappearing if you die with one and no option for a reset. If i die put it back where it caqme from. i cant jump down to the spikes and die to get it you know? fix it and i'll rate much higher, just can't honestly throw an awesome score at you if i can't play the game w/o glitching

Eammy is a fool

clearly Eammy (the dude who rated this game a 2) doesnt understand balls about this game.
the sound is of low quality, but that just add's more to the game in this case.
same for the graphics.
ths fact that you cant attack makes this game different then most games which is a GOOD thing.
if a "good" game needs to be high quality for u then play MW3
in the meanwhile dont rate other peoples art a fricking 2 only becuz YOU dont like it.
for example... I dont like rock music BUT i can hear if a rock song is good or not.
you clearly cant.
therfore I think you are missing a good portion of your brains....

now to the review :D

you did a good job mate !
ESPECIALY the sounds !

possible attempt at art, but... no

It had a nice atmosphere, but is quite lacking in gameplay.

Movement was obvious, but was it ever explained that the down button activates a shield? Was it ever mentioned that the shield can reflect projectiles to kill the thrower? Was it mentioned that the shield doesn't protect against melee?

Can you make a more annoying spawning sound? ***, man.

As for story... the description makes a vague attempt at a 3 sentence synopsis, but the game doesn't hint at this, other than an intro that resembles Evangelion. The random statements in game also do not obviously relate.

On the level where you can (must?) squish that spirit/girl, I jumped over the tree thing at the end of the level. Since there was a cliff there, I thought it was an easter egg/alternate end. Well, I jumped off... and nothing happened. No level select means I'm completely screwed.

Not as good as it wants to be.

It's definitely atmospheric; I love the old-style feel to it, very reminiscent to some late 80s/early 90s horror games. The graphics fit in fine, too.

My only issue is with the gameplay. Unfortunately, as this is a flash game, gameplay is everything. You can't get away with not warning us about the sudden appearance of enemies, especially if they look exactly like the sprites we've been wandering past before; I died twice before even realising what had actually hit me that first time. After that, it became a simple jump and avoid puzzle/platformer. It really could have had more, but it seemed to involved in trying to unsettle and scare, rather than actually focus on being a good game. If you make another platformer, you also need to make the main character a lot more responsive, otherwise it's just hellishly frustrating - play a couple of old-school Mario games and compare them to the movement of your character here.

Still, all the bits are there for a good game, and you certainly seem to know how to create a creepy atmosphere.
