I am a first year multimedia student at the University of Pretoria and this is my Flash animation project for the year. I had no prior knowledge of Flash before starting this degree. Before starting with this project I had a few ideas for an animation, but none of them really stuck. One day I drew a scribble of this alien animal with very long legs in a notepad, drawing some inspiration from the tusked creatures in Linkin Park's "Somewhere I Belong" music video. I immediately decided to make my flash animation about these fascinating creatures I had dreamed up. This is the end-result, it was an enriching experience as it was the first real flash movie that I have ever made. Sure to be the first of many!

I enjoyed it!

I really liked the animation! Maybe a bit short, but I thought the overall style of animation was really good. I especially liked the part where the creatures nose was sniffing.

Pretty good but short

An interesting flash. I like the opening scene and the colors used especially in the sky. I think that the ground and the grass could use a little more depth. Either use more greens or place more vegetation. I also like the character design and the motion of them running was very accurate. The audio used was also pretty good for the mood. However, I didn't care how short the story was. I know you much have been on such a short time frame but to have the antagonist to be just scared off seems a little too blunt of an ending. Overall it's pretty good and hope to see more works from you in the future.

Not bad

Great art but I noticed you used the minecraft music. I really liked that, but theres so much more potential for those songs. Next time think more outside of the box!

Great job and keep it coming!

Yes I did use Minecraft music. Living Mice is a beautiful piece of music, I wanted to incorporate it somehow. I suppose in the end the animation didn't completely do the soundtrack justice, but I'll definitely be experimenting in Flash some more in the future to better my skills.

Thank you for the good review.

Good job

I think this little movie contained a pretty nice use of colour, especially in the first few screens. I also thought the beast running was quite well animated. I suppose you used a film of a striding horse as an example for that? It kinda looked like you traced such images in order to animate it. Can't blame you because I know it's very hard to get that right.

I do think the animation and drawings could use some "polishing" and smoothening, but for the rest I have to say that your first project looks quite promising. I hope you'll make some more animations for Newgrounds in the future and make attempts to improve your work.

Overall 7 out of 10, 3 out of 5. Good job in my opinion. I'm sure this will be a pass.

Thank you for these kind words. Yes I did have a look at how a horse's legs move, then I made one leg and just used it four times with a little offset on each step from the previous leg.

I will definitely be making some more animations in the future.
