I had to hack it

I cut out the little scenes you HAVE to watch over and over and over...and I also made the research of stuff instant - as neither one adds anything to the game. Then, I found it much more enjoyable. I really think that you should only show the little scenes (where you use items) 1 time. Then, just use the damn item. Gets old watching the same thing over and over.

Want a better score and a better game?
-cut out research time (no point, just slows down game play - no one wants to wait on a timer)
-only make it so the scenes play 1 time
-Music could play the entire time - and also give choices about the music

Good about the game
-I liked the idea overall
-Everything looked pretty good
-I liked the added sound effects...the zombie noises, gun fire, etc...

4/10 because it is just too slow and gets BORING very quick. Like my title says, I had to hack it....

Get it?

After reading a majority of the reviews for this game, It makes me realize that the majority of 14 year-ol... I mean Newgrounders really didn't understand what this game was about. As I read reviews made by others clamoring for a fighting mode or an outbreak mode, I sighed to myself, as they were completely missing the point of this game. I mean think about it... doesn't Newgrounds have enough games to where you're simply shooting at zombies? This game offers something much more complex, something much more innovative than a simple Zombie shooter. This game allows you to delve into the the mind and psyche of an undead creature and that is far more far more rewarding that just watching that same mind splatter all over the pavement.

A new take on the zombie genre

Lab of the Dead puts you in the role of a scientist who tries to study the zombies in an abandoned research facility, but soon, the other members of your group become more and more paranoid of you, and the question is who is worse? the zombies, or the humans?

Lab of the Dead's story is good. The audio segments are great. The quality of the voicing is just as good as that of Road of the Dead, the prelude to this game. The notes and audio tapes that are found give an excellent sense of the despair of the previous researchers of the facility, as they saw how the situation slowly got out of control.

The gameplay is also good. Zombies give surprising reactions if you manage to create the right situation. There is a large and surprising variety of objects to experiment with. The zombies that you experiment upon have a surprisingly large amount of traits, and to be succesfull, you have to research each zombie individually. The only problem with the gameplay is that when you start the game, research will go excruciatingly slow, and the situation doesn't improve that much when you progress further into the game. The game also takes a huge amount of time to complete, because there are 250 reactions to discover. the average for each item is about four, and for each of those reactions, you need to create a very specific situation, and some reactions are extremely hard to achieve. This makes the game boring in the long run, and the hard reactions are tedious to achieve.

The graphics are also surprisingly good for a flash game, and are once again just as beautiful and gritty as the graphics of Road of the Dead.

My conclusion is this: The story and graphic elements of the game are truly amazing and the gameplay is truly revolutionary for a zombie game, but, the execution of the new gameplay mechanics show a lot of rough edges, and you need a lot of patience to fully beat the game.
