Interesting Concept

First off, I have to ask; are you an atheist? It was refreshing to see a game/movie that teetered on the balance of religion and beliefs. Now, on to the game play... The game itself was somewhat boring, and needed polishing, considering it was pretty annoying that you could only aim in 4 directions, and the enemies could hit you every which way. There was a graphical glitch I had while playing the game; I couldn't see the HUD, which pissed me off to no end. I could see the bottom of the map, and the weapon I had selected. I made it as far as the second dungeon before getting feed up with not knowing where I was going or doing. The demo does not work with InternetExplorer, and was barley able to cooperate with Google Chrome. Mozilla was being gay, so I was forced to use these two browsers. I believe that Mozilla would probably load right, but since Chrome is my default browser (Since I watch more videos than play games) that this game does not work on all browsers. When I do get Mozilla working, hopefully I will know what I'm doing. And who knows? I might even buy the game. But for now, this is NOT the best of your work. Next on the list is the art. The art style was smooth, but the intro was very... lazy to say the least. The main character was generic, until you found an item. The item gave him somewhat character, and it was interesting seeing three different items that he could use/wear. Next is the transitions for gameplay and loading. There was just about no loading time at all, which I like to see. The game also ran smoothly, and maybe a little to smooth. Sometimes, I would want him to stop at a certain point, and Isaac would slide a little, angering me. Finally, the music score and sound effects. The sound, as always, is great, and I love that squishy sound it makes when you mutilate an enemy into a pile of organs and muscle. The music was great as well, adding an eerie element to the game. I hope to see more from you, that actually works on other browsers :\ . ( PS: Mind putting a demo or trial run on steam, so I can get a feel of the game that actually works? )

Thanks for the Post

Good demo

I've loved a lot of Ed's other work, been a fan since the TIACFH days. The story here is great and the ideas are well formed. The art is gorgeous and, as always, instantly recognisable as Ed McMillen's, although the menu art looks very rushed. The powerups and randomisation has meant this is my third playthrough.

The music is amazing, fitting the tone perfectly, and the sound is great, with some nostalgic, recognisable sounds clips that have brought a smile to my face.

Unfortunately the controls feel sluggish, the inability to fire diagonally seems like a pointless exclusion, and Isaac's bullets are difficult to direct. Also, right now I have 5 chests on my map that I can't reach - what's the point of chests you can't get to?

This is a good game that deserved more time put into it. Better menu artwork and a more responsive control system would have made this game a lot more awesome. After releasing a critically acclaimed retail game expectations are going to be high, but my two favourite things about Super Meat Boy: Super-tight controls and flawless presentation - are both missing here. It's a disappointing fact that other free games have done it better.

Very well made demo.

I love the zelda/90's top down feel of it, and the game play is very smooth, the items are fun. The art is immediately recognizable if you've played much of Meat Boy, having a very distinctly child like morbidity to it. The concept and music are also spot on for it, making you wonder if it is really happening to him, or all just his imagination running rampant after being told the stories by his mother.

I haven't been able to play the full version of it, though at 5 dollars it's a steal.

Overall, very solid games.
