Great, But Goddamned Glitchy

The Last Stand: Union City is an immersive adventure where you must save your wife Bethany and escape by boat from the zombie-infested nightmare. This game has zombies, and tons of them, roaming the streets and hiding in homes waiting to jump out at you in random ambushes that occur quite often in the game. This game also has special parameters you must abide by, like weight management, as their is only so much you'll be able to carry (but if you do find an item in the game that says "undefined," make sure you keep that, trust me), and it includes storage lockers for excess items just like Resident Evil. And there are a few side quests and three pages of achievements you can do to acquire companions, special items, and more experience to level up your character. This latest version of The Last Stand was fun to play, but what really marred the experience are the numerous glitches. Even though I toned down the quality as much as allowed, I still ended up dying in zombie ambushes, where my character would be flailing in terror on the screen as he was being torn limb from limb by the zombies, and it doesn't help that this happens quite a bit in the game--in fact, the hordes are so overwhelming that you can expect to die much in this game because the ambushes are so frequent that they're downright cheap, especially at the last stretch of the game. Overall, this game was a great play, but with the glitches I had to contend with, I think one trek through Union City was enough.

Some problems...

It's a good, bordering on great game. The attention to detail is excellent, as always, with a great variety of weapons, and a skill tree put in for good measure. The RPG elements, if simply, add that extra layer of depth to keep the game engaging. The story also kept me playing till the end.

However, the game is very buggy and at times feels unfinished. This is understandable given its size and scope, but now at one point the my character is unable to move and this doesn't change no matter how many times I reload the save or restart the browser. Also, the game experiences some slowdown and other glitches that don't make it feel as polished as it should be.

These are only technical issues though, as the quality of the gameplay is enough to warrant this a thumbs up from me. Some other elements feel half-baked, like the buddy system, sidequests, and exploration, but all in all, a step forward in the series.
