Play in Survivor mode for a more realistic experience where the need food and sleep will be added to your survival requirements. Or play in Run'n'Gun mode and blast your way to freedom.
Great concept, good gameplay but...
I loved both last stand 1 and 2 and this is again another great game but just like many other people have mentioned its plagued by bugs. Like a lot of people have said it lags so much towards the end as well as this there's not a lot of elaboration of how the infection started or much about the stories of your companions but thats just me being picky. Also the horde attacks are too frequent in the latter half of the game and there are almost too many zombies that it just gets boring.
other than that its brilliant and i really look forward to the next one, make sure this one has Jack in as well!
I loved Last Stand 1 and 2. I enjoyed this one, but it's plagued with bugs. A former playtester myself, I can submit an itemized list of specifics, but for now I'll focus on gameplay.
The game is balanced heavily against players who went with Pistols or Blunt skills. The last good pistol we see is the Death Adder, and the last Blunt weapon worth anything is the Mace (which I defiantly carried across the finish line!).
Hank was a huge help but hard to control. Near the end, I'm surprised he made it at all. If given one-shot weapons like the RPG or M79, he starts to lose his mind, pointing it at the floor and not reloading until someone bitchslaps him (and sometimes not even then). It's kind of a pity he never says another word of dialog after he joins you, but comforting that he does appear in the ending if he makes it.
You go to a lot of effort to mention that Bethany (or whoever a female character's boyfriend is) has been bitten. But that never goes anywhere. I was prepared to kill her the whole way, and the main character does seem to run with the "idiot ball" to overlook this.
The shooting system adds a level of false difficulty to this style of play. It worked when we're hiding behind a wall, but it starts to break down in a free-running system. For one thing the main character stops sprinting if for any reason he ends up facing the other way (usually because he ran past the cursor). And I remember killing only three crawling zombies or dogs the whole game and just letting Hank kill them because they're so close to the bottom of the screen (and you have to REALLY get in there) that you're more likely to click on a banner ad and die than really kill them.
The clothing mechanic is nice and there's a lot of variety, but it's never explained. I can't tell if I'm actually getting any protection from that bulletproof vest and helmet, or indeed getting anything out of having that much weight on me. I wore the hazmat suit once and put it away for the rest of the game.
I also seem to be able to crouch. What's it for? Am I sneaking? This is never explained either.
I also had to find out I had a flashlight entirely by accident.
The truth is, though, I followed the game to its conclusion pretty much nonstop, and I hope it gets patched so it can live up to its full potential and we can move on to the next game by ConArtists.

Boxed in and beat down
There's no way to get away from zombies on both sides without blasting through them. It's fun until level 3 when it gets ridiculous.
