Play in Survivor mode for a more realistic experience where the need food and sleep will be added to your survival requirements. Or play in Run'n'Gun mode and blast your way to freedom.
The game is great, but its really hard to pick locks for me :/
Great game, but a couple gripes.
First issue, storage space needs to be unlimited. Its almost got no use purely because 30 pounds is nothing especially considering that the unique items given to us way around 20 pounds by themselves.
Second issue, the 'ceiling ambushes' seemed to be a lazy way to make the player panic and it takes away a lot of the realism. I mean how would zombies know when to break the floor and ambush? Besides the fact that its unrealistic, its also extremely annoying, especially in smaller rooms. It always a GG if they spawn trap you in a corner. It just made venturing through buildings more of a chore/annoyance rather than fun.
Third issue, the ending. This wasn't a major issue, but it still got to me. The plot was the typical zombie story and I know I shouldn't expect anyone to stray too far from it, but the ending was just dissapointing. I mean if you aren't going to put much thought into it, at least leave it ambiguous.
Fourth issue, the lag. Sometimes my charater wouldn't respond or he would do actions that I had commissioned to him 15 seconds ago. I noticed that the majority of the lag came from the 'ceiling ambushes,' so if you were to take those out, you would be taken out two birds with one stone.
Last one that I can think of right now, needs more companions or at least allow dead ones to respawn with us when we died. It was just annoying that the first time I died, I lost Kelly and I didn't find any other companions after that. I expected there to be more comanions, especially when I found that police station, but there weren't any.
Sidenote: There are a lot of bugs. Unopenable doors, unrevivable companions, unpickable companions, unfinishable quest, etc. I know that all games will have their bugs, and in a game of this magnitude, there will be plenty. It would be nice if these were fixed, but shouldn't be put ahead of fixing gameplay.
Quick list of positives:
-Customization (Almost identical to Fallout mechanics minus perks)
-Combat (Felt as realistic as it can get for 2D)
-Items (Pretty diverse and there's no clear best weapon.I loved the fact that there was clothes to customize how they looked and they didn't really have a large impact on gameplay.)
-Atmosphere (Being in a building always made me feel nervous.)
Overall, a great game and it was definitely worth the hour or two it took to finish.
I'd honestly give this game a 8.5 , but since I cant here's a 9.
I have to say.
Every time you guys come out with a new Last Stand, it always gets more complex. This was a huge, but welcome jump from the last 2. I enjoyed the RPG elements and the references to Fallout. I didn't really like the huge waves of zombies that fell from the ceiling, they were cool at first but got kind of annoying towards the end. All in all, it was a good game.
This game is rather kick ass, being one of the few good zombie RPGs out there. I enjoy the wide range of character customization, the companion system, and the average but still compelling story. It's a shame that I fail so hard at this game and cannot progress past the hospital, because I would like to see the end. Really great stuff.
Its like you took the best parts of fallout 3, dead frontier, and project zomboid. Great job!
