This is the first game I've ever built. This serves as a testing ground for what I've learned so far. I used stencyl to help me put everything together.
Below par all around but here are some hints for your next game:
1. Optimise physics (it is not clear whether you are on a platform, above it or barely falling off)
2. By the time an enemy appears on the screen they have already fired their first shot which is usually impossible to dodge.
3. Controls (fuck that z x c)
If you had pur more effort into making more levels and sprites I would give it a 2,5/5 but now it is just 1/5.
This game is boring and stupid! I'd be surprised if anyone liked it!
Pretty good for a first attempt
I'm sure you already know this, but the collision and hitboxes are a tad off. I feel it would be a way better game if they were more precise.
I like the choice of music and background art. Perhaps the BG music could change after every stage.
Also remember to put bounding collision boxes so we can jump off the left side of stages. :) Good stuff, I hope to see more.
A common mistake
Another game rendered unplayable due to the fact you did not make the jump button the up arrow key.
I gave it a two, just so it wasn't blammed. However, I beat the game in like 30 seconds. Also, the first level is like 10 times harder than the rest of the game. There is little to do with collision detection. In fact, I actually tried to all into the gaps and the game just let me roll right over it. Good attempt for a first time, but please put some time into testing the game first.
