Hey, i made this platformer. Its meant to convey the idea that often the actions required to achieve a given goal are more rewarding than the goal itself. For example, in the case of a computer game the playing and improving can be more fun than the satisfaction of having finished the game. Hence 'the journey is the destination'. I think its an interesting take on the heros journey, in a classic, retro styled platformer. I hope you enjoy it!

Truely horrible...

I didn't get very far. The game told me to persevere, and that's when I realized you actually knew how bad the levels were. So, I stopped giving you the benefit of the doubt and decided you were just being lazy about it.

The art was also pretty horrible. By retro, you must have been referring to Pong. In seems like calling something retro is just an excuse to use boxes for art these days. Now, there are some retro-styled games that look very nice, like cave story, but this one didn't at all. It wasn't retro, it was just bad.

I would give you more points for the mechanics of the game, but you used Flixel, so there isn't much you actually had to do. I'm guessing you probably made this game in a day and decided to throw it up on Newgrounds. There's nothing wrong with that if the game is any good, but this just seems like a bad practice piece, and that's not really worth playing.

i copied this but i really agree so dont hate me

I am usually not the one to give low scores but this game almost asks for it.
I really do not mean to insult you but for my taste the difficulty level is insane: The danger of the hazards compared to the punishment (one false move --> losing a life worth 20 hard to get coins and bringing you near complete game end by a giant leap). The music was... ok, not really bad but nothing groundbreaking. I have seen this "Pixel style" this kind of unfinished looking and minimalistic graphics before but it was in a game that made this on purpose trying to give you the feeling of being behind the scences of games with graphic greatness. In this case although it seemed just like laziness. I canĀ“t really give you less than 4/2 as I know that there is still going quite some programming and testing - a lot in fact- in these kind of games.

The game itself was good, but...

The controls were tricky. That may have very well been your intention, and platformers aren't fun without any difficulty. However, the fact that I found it difficult to land a single block wasn't due to the limited space to land, it was due to the controls. Usually, i either made it by the corner of said single block or just fell. The jumping seemed awkward but the landing was horrendous, and even when I landed, it was extremely difficult to resist balancing myself or I would fall. As much as I liked the idea, I just don't believe the mechanics are good at all.

Keys are STICKY!!!!! Bad music....not the best idea to remake...fix the keys/jump and you would get at least a 4/10 though
