Edit: Mobile version can be found here:

Crystal Story is a turn based rpg that uses a random dungeon generator. You control four characters and configure what skill sets they learn along the way. You can earn equipment upgrades that will help you traverse through Evil Cave by destroying monsters or playing minigames.

This game is really fun and really addicting. Upgrading weapons is nice and easy, battles are not random and can be avoided, there are 4 classes and 4 characters so one can be each. For each character, there are three classes available; for example: Tristam can be a fighter, rogue or mage; Kaeli can be a Healer, Mage, or Rogue. The monsters are interesting, and there are more powerful forms of them and you are rewarded for slaying the powerful beasts. Also, when the boss monsters are defeated, they come back stronger, although worn out. It also has some funny scenes giving it a cute anime-esque format. The monsters gain a level with each floor. I also like how the floors change depending on how far you've gone.
However, I found a few problems. Like when I was using the heal spell, it restored 300 some HP, later when I used it, it restored 130 some HP; and when I used Greater Heal, it restored a similar amount to the latter. Are there any actual elemental affinities or do the elements that are attached to the spells just there? The stronger versions are difficult, but can be pushovers. The monster, rabid wolf, has an very powerful attack that reduces the ATK and MAG stats of the entire team, flipping the advantages in an instant. I seem to find the epic and legendary weapons and torso armor often, which renders purchasing new equipment less needed.
Although there are a few problems, overall, it's still a great, fun game. In fact I would love to play a sequel if there would be one.

Love the game! I played this while ago, but erased my cache and had to start over. But it's just a fun the second time!

Love how you can upgrade your current weapon, so you don't get a purple or orange item, and have to discard it 3 lvls later. The monsters are a good difficulty in my opinion (sometimes I find a monster that just whoops my butt, even though I just killed three of them), and I'm looking foward to the later levels (lvl 20 now)!

I do have one question though: What are the these "RS: [insert skill here]" things I sometimes loot from monsters? I know that it's that current monsters ability, and I thought you were able to use it somehow, but I can't find any information on it. Any info would be great!

In any case, great game, and

Really great game.
The music is pretty good, especially in battle. 5/5
Very interesting and new gameplay style. 5/5
Battling is good, but i think both characters and enemies need to start a little weaker. 4/5
Shopping is pretty good, though enemies drop a lot of gold. 4.5/5
the leveling up is well made, although it might be nice if when you level up, you could pick to increase strength, health, intelligence, etc. 4/5

Overall a very nice and well made game.

Quite the magnificent little (but not really) flash game. It's not too often I can find a web-based flash game that is able to hold my attention for several hours. I can't really say much else, besides that I appreciate the funny 'RPG satire' that this game incorporates, the skill system, the variety of monsters, the random dungeon generator, and most of all... my pet slime.

On that note, every game has room for improvement. Here are some things I think you might want to consider if you ever decide to update this game, create a sequel, or just a whole other RPG game all together:

*It was somewhat frustrating to get all of my characters properly equipped when I wasn't able to see exactly what stats each item provided. Sure, I could look at comparisons with green / red numbers with respective up / down directional areas to denote gain or loss in a stat. But when I have a ton of items in many varieties, I like to be able to identify the best equipment for every character directly from my inventory without having to go through every character individually.

So perhaps add a way to look at each items stats in raw form, instead of just how they affect a character individually.

Another cool idea I had that I've always liked in games was a way to actively view the 'timeline' of the battle (often referred to as a 'Active Time Bar', or other such names depending on its form). This would allow players to see exactly who's turn it is, both on the enemy's side and player's side. It sucks when you're in a tough fight that's really close, and you're basically trying to line things up with your party based on guesses.

That's all I really got. This game is pretty great, so not much else to say without picking it apart from start to finish. Easy 5/5.
