Crystal Story is a turn based rpg that uses a random dungeon generator. You control four characters and configure what skill sets they learn along the way. You can earn equipment upgrades that will help you traverse through Evil Cave by destroying monsters or playing minigames.

Whoa thanks for the reviews! I love you guys! :D

Flash RPG hall of fame=

Incredibly addictive game! I'm very impressed that you've made this by yourself. You've managed to take what is basically an old school rpg and polished several aspects so much that it feels fresh. The flexibility the skill systems offers allows you to develop the characters how you want and makes level ups feel rewarding. The equipment system (way better then the standard wood->iron->silver etc) and the sidequests that get unlocked keep you playing. Oh, and kudos for the save/warp/town portal system. Nothing more annoying then losing half an hour of progress due to a lack of saving/resupplying.
The graphics are decent enough and fit the atmosphere though the character sprites did feel static. The music also fits the atmosphere and does not get annoying.

-Even a character whom has maxed the fighter tree and one who has maxed the mage tree differ very little statwise. Though the different weapons help, it is strange that a mage has as much DEF/HP as a fighter. You could fix this by making the skill trees more similar to Dragon Quest's by putting some stat boosts in there.
-Make the bosses more challenging. Most bosses currently do less damage then the regular enemies on the previous floor.
-Fit more skills into a screen, it gets rather annoying to scroll through 3 menus when you try to select a skill in battle.
-Display the changes equipment makes to your stats when hovering over it in the shop instead of just increases/decreases.
-Expert defence. I'm just not made for this level of masochism.

-I've never succeeded in curing Blind with magic. Quite annoying with the HUGE miss chance this ailment causes.
-Heall all and G. Heal All are both displayed as Heal all in the skill menu.
-Cure all, unlike the regular cure, does not cure ailments but status changes.
-Enemies with a larger sprite covered the upper part of Tristam's buff/debuff list.

Awesome RPG!

So I finished the storyline with Tristam as the fighter, Kaeli as rogue, Phoebe healer and Reuben as mage. Awesome RPG! I really enjoyed it, and I'd continue to play to get all the medals whenever I can!

To mention some areas of improvement aside from what blackquaza has mentioned (big enemies covering Tristam's stat buffs, Dragoon spear costing and selling for 0, stat buff overpoweredness):
1) I had Heal All and G.Heal All on Phoebe. When I opened the skill tabs so as to cast outside of battle, I noticed that I have two "Heal All" tabs instead of "Heal All" and "G.Heal All".

2) While I don't really need to use the shop except for potions, selling and the armory, I think the shop system can be improved in many areas.
* If I happen to want to buy potions and the like, I am not able to see the current number of the item I have; I had to manually view my equipment, remember the exact number, then buy accordingly.
* While I applaud the fact that the game gives you a number directly for comparison of the stats between your current equipment and that of another equipment you want to equip in the equipment menu, the shop menu's is oversimplified in that it only shows whether a stat goes up or down (no numbers) and it doesn't show certain stats like accuracy and crit.
* When I go to the armory, I can only upgrade the equipment that I'm presently equipped. I can't upgrade other equipment that I have in my inventory but not equipped with, which can be rather frustrating.
* Whenever you sell stuff, the inventory will go back to page 1. This is very annoying if you are trying to sell stuff at the ends of your page like low quality monster foods and monster skills that you don't want.

3) Some of the descriptions for equipment are very vague, mostly in the rings/amulets and what status effects are etc.
* The Exp Ring for instance. I always get it at level 1 from the monster rewards and pick it up at higher levels, but does upgrading the ring actually increase the exp gained? If it doesn't, then this ring should never be upgraded and thus always be at the level cap whenever you get it, otherwise people will waste their money on it without any benefit.
* I have Remedy and Dispel, and I couldn't tell the difference between status effects and magic effects. What exactly constitutes the effects?

Other comments:
* Damn, the zombie defense game is hard even on easy, maybe its just me.

* Is there any fixed recipe for feeding the slime or is it totally by chance? Does it require any specific order of feeding?

* Would be nice to see the entire map, is there a button for that?

So all in all, mostly some bugs here and there, a bit of uneven balance and lack of description, but its a really fun game!

Tips for players:
1) Don't buy any weapons or armor or amulet from the shop. Those you pick up in the dungeons, especially the purple and orange ones, are often good enough and should be saved and upgraded through the armory. Afterall, you can get items even beyond your current level if you pick them up.
2) However, consider buying the potions and Revive, at least and especially the 20mp Minor Ethers (mana pots). You can't heal mana without ethers, but you can heal health without health potions. You can actually open the menu, go to the "Skills" icon of your healer, and use the heal skill to heal everyone when outside of combat.
3) Always use buffs when against a strong foe. Debuffing your enemy is also recommended, though you might not want to debuff if your enemy in question is the boss (but you can still use group debuff skills to take out his henchmen).
4) If you put an enemy to sleep, he will not wake up unless you use Attack on him. If you use SPELLS on him, he will not wake up.
5) Explore the whole map before you leave the place, otherwise whatever you have explored is for nothing. Portals appear every 2 floors and on the boss floor. Also, you don't have to engage every foe, though some will respond to you.
6) The lurkers react very quickly. The samurais react slowly. The birds' magic fucking hurts.

Most of these should be fixed on v1.0.3. Probably tomorrow or Monday maybe. Thanks!

Great game :)

though i really do find the atk buffs a little to powerful i tend to one hit way too much... and the bosses are well pretty darned good, but it would really be nice if we got some quality rare items when we defeat the bosses... just putting it out there cause it way hard to find items for them... nice graphics nice sounds great game...

P.S. if you could cut the transition time when you defeat monsters and the playing time the transition is just way to long for me :)
