Well I recently started learning Actionscipt 3, This is my first "game" submission, or game at all for that matter previous to this have just been various gaming aspects I would replicate. I'm still learning but with some trouble shooting help from Mintpaw and a few others, Mikozoid as well the programmer for Granny Strikes Back, which you should check out, it's a lot of fun. I've managed to comprehend AS3 just to the point where I could get this out. It's not perfect by any means but I thought it was at least some what entertaining and I'm excited to put this out here and receive some feedback to improve my programming for the future. Please feel free to comment as frankly as you wish, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to better understanding AS3 and making games that more resemble some of my favorites such as Alien Hominid, Dude and Zombies, and that of the Madness series, I'm sure that's quite a long ways away but I really enjoy doing this and plan to keep at it.

cool little game...

there is a glitch after you die..
you can still kill the monsters, and score more...

Yeah, you can still kill the last monster =/, had some problems with removeChild after loss probally should stick the enemies in a container other then the stage.

Well it is a start

The graphics werent too bad. the gameplay leaves room for much improvement. If you hold space key you just keep killing the mobs and never die. I got to 250 some before the game broke and quit spitting mobs at me. Though your game only displays the first 2 digits of the score, which is a problem for anything over 100. Anyway, good start and I am sure you plan to do much more work to it.

Yeah, I'm not happy with how I added monsters to the game, I'm definitely going to change that up, most likely push them into an array. I went back and looked, someone holding down spacebar just isn't something I thought about. I've never been one of those how can I cheat this game type of people, I'll look into preventing that, It was a problem in a previous test where jumping would allow you to fly, so I have a fix in mind for games in the future. As far as only displaying the first two digits of the score. The way I had the game set up previous to being aware that you could just hold down space I didn't foresee the score going up that high, and with a fix it most likely would not, but I should probably make it a habit to leave a much larger score box. Thanks for taking the time to review, it'll help me improve my games.

That is indeed the NG preloader, the graphics were just altered, if you mean to say the animations for it "dont work" as in doesn't look that great, I'd be inclined to agree with you, it was designed with a 12 fps rate in mind, while this is 24. If you mean to say the official NG preloader, code unaltered, does not work. You most likely failed to follow the instructions in both the comments, and preloader page, or your flash is not up to date, both of which would be your fault. Since it works for me, and a few friends I've had try it. I feel confident in stating it is indeed your fault.

Needs work

You lose health when close to th enemies without touching them

It's most likely hit testing on the sword which sticks out a little bit from the player, I could alter the animation so that the monster would have to be closer for the player to become hurt but I feel like since the player character has a generous hitTest when attacking, its reasonable for the monster to have at least a moderate one.
