Whoa I'm so happy you like the game, thanks!
Yeah that's a very common question haha. Backdrops were added a long time ago because people were asking for them to make their builds have more depth. But, because of the way the worlds are structured and saved to the computer, the game can only save one block per tile. It's all just one layer, with some blocks you can walk through, and some blocks you can't.
It would just take a lot of work to redo that system to fix it, so I haven't prioritized it yet. Same story with the world generator - it's pretty old and missing new biomes for the same reason. The way worlds are saved is just kind of limited until I can take the time to overhaul it all.
Yello Zanzlanz,
I just wanted to say that this game really made me happy back then and now, because little me would just search "play minecraft for free" or something like that, then your game showed up, and it was simply the best thing i've ever seen, it really left a good memory.
And even now its still as awesomer as it ever was, a really big nostalgia punch, also, when i came back and saw that this game wasn't abandoned, adobe flash wasn't a problem, and still made with love, it made my day after some dark times.
Thanks alot for this game.
(P.S: you dont know how much i love this game OST and menu).
Hey thanks dude!
Keeping the game alive all these years is worth it just to hear the joy from players like you who are remembering it fondly and returning to the nostalgia!
I hope Mine Blocks will continue entertaining people for a long time. It's such a fun project and it's my pleasure to keep it going :D
Dear Zanzlanz,
Just came back here revisiting old memories and i'm suprised that this game is still going with you even responding to reviews till this day, incredibly impressive!
This game was my childhood back in 2014, i did leave an "review" during that time aswell, by the username of destroy6666 (sadly i've lost the password to this account), now i say "review" in quotations because it was child me rambling in a broken combination of dutch and english about how i wanted to end myself because i died on a good seed and that i had a castle build apparently (a severe exageration, child me was odd), with you responding in confusion.
It still haunts me every once a while i go on a nostalgia trip and makes me cringe while laughing at how i used to be, to the point i made this new account just to explain it, if for whatever reason you recall this review, although more because it keeps weighing on my consciousness that something like that is out there and it feels like it needs some "explanation" (the cringe is strong).
However that aside i just wanna thank you for all the great memories you gave to me from the years i played this game, from asking my dad to please turn off the cookie deletion so i could keep playing on my worlds when i found it on the site, to going to bedrock for the first time without any torches and being amazed at the amount of diamonds i found, i never actually went to the nether or end, kid me didn't know what those were, i recall a toothless from HTTYD skin, which i had tons of fun with as well, even drawing it on my notebooks whenever i could, and of course child me spending hours trying to learn how to make a skin just like the others. There was also mineblocks 2 game i found during that era, which confused child me because when i played it it was just walking around breaking stuff with others there, no crafting inventory or anything else as far as i can recall, child me thinking "where's the mineblocks?" was severely confused lol.
This game, no negativity intented in the slightest, was the game i could always fall back to with joy whenever my parents at the time denied me to buy minecraft and i searched up stuff like "free 2D minecraft" on the internet, It feels to me that this game is almost, or maybe just as big, as Minecraft is, any kid who grew up during my era but unable to play minecraft eventually ended up finding this game, which led me here.
It was good times, incredible good times. I am unaware how your life has been going but i hope that it has nothing but positivity for creating so many fond memories to so many people.
Yours truly,
Sticklord, a person whose childhood was much brighter because of you.
Whoa this is so awesome! Thanks for the very thoughtful comment and sharing your memories of Mine Blocks.
That's really funny to hear the backstory of the original review. Definitely don't worry about that old message though, I think most people feel the same about the stuff they posted 10 years ago too lol - I mean I feel that way about my posts!
It makes me really happy to know you liked that Toothless skin I made! And my favorite parts of Mine Blocks are the ones that inspires players to be creative, so it's truly great to hear that you were interested in making skins and stuff because of the game.
OH RIGHT you played before the big Mine Blocks 2 update then! You weren't alone being confused about the inventory and "fake multiplayer" April Fools joke xD Almost a year after your review, Mine Blocks 2 finally got a big update with a full inventory and stuff. Here's a post about that update, if you're interested:

Life has been good! Since you played, I graduated high school and university, and have been working at local game companies for the past 5+ years. But in my freetime I'm still working hard on Mine Blocks and other projects, and I'm absolutely loving what I do. It's messages like yours that remind me how awesome it is to make games :')
I really appreciate you came back and made an account to say hi like this. I hope you enjoy being on Newgrounds again. Have a great week, Sticklord! :D
i have been playing this game ever since 1.25, well... thats the farthest i could remember
edit: okay not 1.25 i wasnt even a year old back when it was made
Omg I can't believe that version is already 10 years old. How?!
Thank you for playing Mine Blocks! :D
Edit: Haha oh! Maybe a site you played it on had the old version for a while. Or maybe you really were a pro gamer at age 1! ;D
Good o'l nostalgia from you my dude. thanks a many my guy
