I hope you love it! Please go gentle, this is my first solo game. Actually, come to think of it, this is my first ActionScript 3.0 game.
Yes, you CAN beat every level! All of them are possible, some are just hard.
i compleeded it in 78 deaths, my problem wasn't remember me(not that hard) but falling down. It was difficult enough so 9/10.
i do not assume to speak for everyone here.
but, i am sure that most will agree when i say this:
when playing a game in which i must over correct my every jump, not from my incompetence, but simply because of how the game is coded, i begin to wonder whether or not it is worth it to continue playing.
if this is intentional, you might want to look at when a game mechanic like this would be suited to the game, otherwise you might want to think of a way to fix the problem, so that jumps are more stable.
my rating is only so low because for me this is a game-breaking problem, outside of this the game is excellent for a first try on your own. my first was in java and did what it was supposed to very terribly.
Cheap deaths ahoy!
There were only two reasons I died in this simple platformer. The first was making annoying blind falls into pits far below that were covered in spikes except for one square that held a platform. No skill involved in that, just blind luck. The second was Remember Me, a level that only serves to draw attention to how the controls are not nearly tight enough to make pixel perfect jumps work. Out of 30 or so attempts I finally managed to make one jump exactly the right distance to make it across the gap, and then died on a blind jump afterwards.
Remember to play to your games strengths, and focus on level design that does not showcase its errors. A lack of aesthetic design on levels makes the same boring stones with spikes look tired after only 10 levels, and with somewhat loose controls the game should never require those pixel perfect jumps.
Even without these little qualms the game is just a very very generic platformer, and needs something to make it even a little unique. Art style, a gameplay element, a strange, silly, or insightful plot, etc. can propel something like this from completely forgettable to something memorable.
Thank you, Rainbowman, for making me hate every color of the rainbow while playing this game.
After 5 minutes of trying and failing miserably, I gave up on "Remember Me?"
No, I won't remember you, I will do anything in my power to forget that terrible level.
Besides that level pissing me off beyond belief, wonderful game. Keep it up.
The possibility of "Remember Me" being able to be beaten being set aside, the difficulty disparity between it and previous levels is too vast to be considered reasonable. After the twelfth consecutive death, players will likely find themselves simply throwing their technicolored heroes into the spike trench out of sheer frustration.
Aside from "Remember Me," the game seems to be an adequate timewaster. Nothing to catch the eye, but nothing too horrendous. It's just... eh.
