Finally, after more than a year of development I am proud to present this Nanobeast to fellow newgroundians.
The game is a challenging retro shooter with an interesting upgrade system that involves collecting power-ups. However, when you collect a power-up (P) that does not mean you have upgraded immediately. You get to choose how to use those power-ups to upgrade your general stats:
- speed of your ship (you need 1 power-up)
- power of your weapon (you need 2 power-ups)
- fire rate of your weapon (you need 3 power-ups)
- bombs (you need 4 power-ups)
- lives (you need 5 power-ups)
There are 2 additional weapons to be collected as you play: missiles and side gun.
There are 27 medals to be achieved, go get them!!!
CONTROLS:
Use the arrow keys to move
Press 'A' to shoot left
Press 'D' to shoot right
Press 'S' to activate your current power-up level
Press 'W' to release a bomb
The game is generally very challenging. There are three difficulty settings: normal, hard and insane. There is no easy.
The highscore system multiplies your score depending on which difficulty setting you play and how many medals you have collected.
The game features original 8-bit music written especially for 'Nanobeast' by Christian Erenskjold a.k.a Coffee-Break, a very talented NG musician. Other musicians who also contributed are listed in the credits.
I have been developing and beta testing this game heavily for a long time. Any feedback and ideas will be greatly appreciated.

I tried to like it...
The game was fun and it was amusing insane was not as horrid as anticipated, the music was fun. but the simple keys getting stuck was the worst, after a couple needless deaths on the first chapter, i avoided using more than two keys at once, but first thing that happens in chapter three after working hard not to die once, and collecting the stuff to allow the score to go up... the keys got stuck, normally i would just off myself and replay chapter, but i was trying to set a score, perhaps not the highest or anywhere near it, but i lost it. I felt like a genualy ticked, at a game, somthing that seems odd to me that a tool of amusment brought me to this position.
To be fair i liked it, I waited ten minutes after pelting the closest living thing(dog) with the contents of my pockets, and shoes. Overall the game is good.

Sticky Controls Mar Otherwise Cool Shooter
The style looks sweet, the music is nice, and I dig the spin on upgrading abilities. But randomly a key gets stuck in game. Helpful when it got stuck firing constantly, but very annoying when it happened. Which was pretty often >.<
I know minor things like that can be fixed, so I'm still rating this one high. 7/10 and 4/5. Nice job, man.

Dunno about you guys, but...
Well, I use a vista. So yeah, the controls on this are IMPOSSIBLE. I'm not sure about other computers, but all I'm implying is that vista users are gonna have a hard time playing this.
