Eh, it was quite pretentious. It became obvious after the second item what's happening, but still have to walk and jump sloooowly alllll the way toooo and baaaaack from each item. I understand you were going more for the art route here, so should have just made the items closer.
It's meant to look like more than it is: Some melancholic piano sounds, black and white artwork that slowly becomes more colorful. Pseudo-emotional BS...
WHERE THE HELL IS ORANGE!?!?!?!?!?
could be a bit easier. i searched every pixel but never found the last color. im probably gonna spend 3 quarters of my life trying to find it
The artist had a point to make....
...but didn't know how to make it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking the "story" or idea of the game. However, your theme is just as valid, if not more so, without 20 minutes of pointless slow platforming. As a video with some spiffed up animation I would have really enjoyed this piece. As a game (which is the category in which we are forced to critique this) it falls very flat.
Next time, speed up the movement a bit. Also add a bit of difficulty with the platforming. If you don't want jumps to be frustratingly difficult at least pump up the maze to add a bit of challenge. Also, when you return an item, it would be nice to get some kind of payoff. I know it adds color yada-yada, but we as gamers have ridiculously short attention spans and thus adding a bit more bang when we accomplish a goal gives us more to look forward to.
I believe in what you're saying, and I know you'll find the perfect way to make these statements. However, for me, this submission just didn't quite get there.
i hate this game
