Hey guys,

We're proud to present Newgrounds with our first game, Super Drift 3D.

Running on our own 3D engine and physics engine, our mission was to create a proper 3D driving game, with console sized levels and proper 3D handling and physics.

We're huge fans of arcade racers, and we were mainly inspired by Ridge Racer, Daytona, Outrun 2, and Initial D.

For my fellow Flash devs interested in 3D game development, I'm currently in the process of doing a Super Drift 3D making of series, which should hopefully be very useful to some of you - all published on my blog here - http://rumblesushi3d.com/

Use the arrow keys to control the car.
Space to reset car.
C to change camera.

Hope you enjoy the game :)

Music:

Menu - Avex Trax / Trust / Ayumi Hamasaki

Cherry Mountain - Sugar & Spice / DJ Dougal and DJ Hixxy

Coastal City - Rainbow in the Sky / DJ Paul Elstak

Neon Good Times - Crowd Pleasures / DJSS

Cheers,
Rumblesushi

I'm sorry, I wanted to enjoy this game, but the way the cars handle is just, fucking clunky.
The drifting makes no fucking sense, whenever I tried to drift it would just send me into
a wall 9 times out of 10. The music was just fine, as it reminds me of ridge racer.
Also, the graphics are amazing ESPECIALLY for a flash game. Seriously, they are STUNNING.
All in all, good attempt, but it falls flat. Either that or I'm just doing it wrong, which if I am,
tell me and I WILL give it another shot.

Terrible physics and lackluster graphics

Terrible physics because for the greater part of the tracks I was able to simply hold the accelerate key and bump into the walls and I slowed down very little if any. The AI was rather boring as well, and made no attempt to try to catch up to me, as if its driving line was pre-programmed. The graphics looked rather decent for the most part, but there were many instances where I could see between the polygons and all the cracks. Decent idea, but not very good execution.

rumblesushi responds:

Out of interest, what 3D Flash games do you consider to have better graphics? Also, the Burnout style wall sliding is a design choice to make the game more fun for novice players. I could literally just change the friction value of the walls to make the car grind to a halt, but that wouldn't be very fun, and would result in a slower game.
