WARNING: This animation is 30 MINUTES LONG. Be prepared for this.
That said, it is my personal belief that it is worth it.
A lonely, childlike moon keeps a diary of his depression, boredom, and recurring nightmares. His daily realities seem to be based on dream logic: clouds with bovine personalities, teeth with eyes and mailmen who fly in balloons. He writes about his very few friends, an invisible person, a pack of wolves, and a boy who lives in space on a garbage pile, protecting the earth from debris. The moon mopes along his 'horrible as usual' orbit, as the invisible one suffers with his own surreal identity crisis while desperately trying to reach out to the moon. Moon Diary is 7 days through the eyes of this gentle sky rock.
Based on characters and comics by Erin Tanner with animation by Curtis Randolph and Charlie Daugherty; Moon Diary (2010) creates a world with a simple, bright surface on an enigmatic, dark and maze-like core.
If you want "pause" and "chapter select," this animation is also up on YouTube. Just search for "Moon Diary" and scroll past all the Sailor Moon garbage. :)

Truly inspiring
I wasn't expecting Moon Diary to be as long as it was. The truth is, flash movies are made by one or two persons generally, 30 minute flashes are regarded as needlessly prolonged pieces because of audience interest fading and workload being too great. So, I was not ready for the movie so to say. I think it doesn't matter because I really didn't notice time passing.
Moon Diary is delightfully imaginative, child-like but there's also a pinch of darker, adult humor. Or can anyone say a water-drinking cloud isn't delightfully imaginative and darkly humorous when you see it puke a rainbow?
Story does not end here. Moon Diary has a lot to give, it is like Hayao Miyazaki made a flash movie. Inspiring, it definitely is. Throughout this whole thiry minutes I was absorbing the scenes, backgrounds, characters - how much work there was put I cannot comprehend. Everything that inspires writing a story is a good thing.
To sum it all up: Moon Diary is something that will not fail to bring a smile in to your face. Beautiful work of art. Thank you.

Just wow. I loved every second of this story. It was really touching, and... I can't think of any other words to describe it. I loved watching this, and you were right, this really was worth the 30 minutes.
