WARNING: This animation is 30 MINUTES LONG. Be prepared for this.

That said, it is my personal belief that it is worth it.

A lonely, childlike moon keeps a diary of his depression, boredom, and recurring nightmares. His daily realities seem to be based on dream logic: clouds with bovine personalities, teeth with eyes and mailmen who fly in balloons. He writes about his very few friends, an invisible person, a pack of wolves, and a boy who lives in space on a garbage pile, protecting the earth from debris. The moon mopes along his 'horrible as usual' orbit, as the invisible one suffers with his own surreal identity crisis while desperately trying to reach out to the moon. Moon Diary is 7 days through the eyes of this gentle sky rock.

Based on characters and comics by Erin Tanner with animation by Curtis Randolph and Charlie Daugherty; Moon Diary (2010) creates a world with a simple, bright surface on an enigmatic, dark and maze-like core.

If you want "pause" and "chapter select," this animation is also up on YouTube. Just search for "Moon Diary" and scroll past all the Sailor Moon garbage. :)

I think I get the ending...

The ending's the only confusing point in the whole animation, so here's a little explanation that hopefully clears things up:

-First off, the birds. Simply put, they added a surreal effect to the moon's death. Now, why birds? Well...This bit's a theory, but the birds are what tied him to the world. By eating/swallowing/storing (I really don't know how to describe it) living things, the moon was able to stay alive. However, as all the birds made their escape, the moon began losing it's life, as it couldn't keep his payments to staying alive. (eating birds)

-Now, with the hardest, most confusing point out of the way, I'll move onto the invisible man. What exactly happened to him? In simple terms, he became the moon's shadow. (Which is why his shadow tells him he might not like what can be done to save the moon, because he hates shadows.) Now, as to how becoming the moon's shadow saved the moon, I'll quote a line. "Without a shadow, you're invisible." Earlier in the animation, the invisible man is described as a ghost. Does that not apply to the moon as well, seeing how people never know that the reason they float in the air is because the moon's walking by? And going off of the point I made with the birds and the moon, I suppose the invisible man's payment is to be haunted by shadows in order to stay tied to the living realm.

Hope this helps! :D
