Snailiad is an 8-bit-inspired game, which uses the NES palette most of the time, and uses NES music I wrote using Famitracker. I hope you enjoy it! :-) There's some references to eight-bit classics that helped inspire Snailiad, and you might also find a cameo or two from RPG Shooter: Starwish, if you play long enough.

Big thanks to:

Starting with Flash Player 10.3, Flash save data gets DELETED if you clear cookies or browser history. If you're having trouble with saves, this list might help:
1. Don't clear your cookies or history
2. Make sure the Flash Storage Settings say "Unlimited"
3. Make sure "private browsing" is OFF
4. Make sure "clear browser history on exit" is OFF
5. Make sure "block sites from setting any data" is OFF (for Chrome users)
6. Don't run a program that deletes stuff, like CCleaner or Better Privacy

Once you defeat the final boss, you unlock the "radar"! The radar tells you how many items are left in the current area.

There's a hidden mode in Snailiad! Once you've unlocked it, it will be one of the choices in "NEW GAME", below EASY and NORMAL.

If you set your browser zoom below 100%, the bottom and right sides of the game will get cut off. Please make sure your zoom is at least 100%!

Great game.

It reminds me a lot of metroid as most other reiews specify, and I would love to see a flash version of the whole metroid game someday. Thats how well I am impressed with this game. I find no flaws but enjoy the fact this needs some skill to play as well as occasional luck here and there, I just wish that it was a bit longer and the areas were bigger. Other than that here's your 10.

Great Game!

Metroid/8bit-style adventure games seem to be getting pretty popular, but I have to say that this one stands a cut above the rest because it was executed perfectly.

If you decided to make a sequel, you should call it "Odyssnail"...heh

I got it!!!

After five hours playing this I got 100% of the map and 100% of the items!

It gets really hard to find the rest when you have 99% of the map and 98% of the items.

I never imagined that I could have so much fun in a game with a look so simple! This game reminds me of childhood when I spent hours in a Megadrive or a Nintendo (or some other).

You guys did a great job, congratulations!

PS: I agree with one of the snails: this game could have more weapons.

This game is hella fun!

I wasn't sure of this game when I started because the title page was really bad mario paint, but I kept going because the snail concept was pretty funny.
Then the damn game turned into a snailtroid game and I was hooked! This is easily one of the best games I've played on newgrounds, enough so that I didn't bother to go out and meet my friends. Soul stealer ;)

It's true! I have the artistic capabilities of a concussed third grader. But I'm glad you enjoyed my game :-D

Someone played Cave Story...

But anyways. I like the weapons so far and wile the wall crawling physics make me mad every once in a while, the game is actually really good. The music is pretty NES genre but could use a bit of improvement. Overall, I like this game.
