Snailiad is an 8-bit-inspired game, which uses the NES palette most of the time, and uses NES music I wrote using Famitracker. I hope you enjoy it! :-) There's some references to eight-bit classics that helped inspire Snailiad, and you might also find a cameo or two from RPG Shooter: Starwish, if you play long enough.

Big thanks to:

xdanond, for drawing some stuff!
newstarshipsmell, for lots of testing!
jsr, for Famitracker!

Starting with Flash Player 10.3, Flash save data gets DELETED if you clear cookies or browser history. If you're having trouble with saves, this list might help:
1. Don't clear your cookies or history
2. Make sure the Flash Storage Settings say "Unlimited"
3. Make sure "private browsing" is OFF
4. Make sure "clear browser history on exit" is OFF
5. Make sure "block sites from setting any data" is OFF (for Chrome users)
6. Don't run a program that deletes stuff, like CCleaner or Better Privacy

Once you defeat the final boss, you unlock the "radar"! The radar tells you how many items are left in the current area.

There's a hidden mode in Snailiad! Once you've unlocked it, it will be one of the choices in "NEW GAME", below EASY and NORMAL.

If you set your browser zoom below 100%, the bottom and right sides of the game will get cut off. Please make sure your zoom is at least 100%!

the secret of the secret boomerang revealed

This a fantasic And had many fun hours playing it But i have a few with it.
1.I didn't like the opening cutscene due to how poorly drawn it was(I release its supose to be a joke but still)
2.You should of placed the high jump upgrade better i ended up skipping it by accident.
3.I hated stompy's design,i think you should have made it more robotic.
Otherwise the game was great and i could easily see myself buying this on wiiware
I figured out the reason for the secret boomerang. Its for sluggy, It turns out that sluggy's jump is better than snaily's jump and here the secret to getting it early.
1.first go towards the exit of snail town(the north east side) jump over to the snail that questions about them living in treehouses(you can make the jump now that your sluggy)
3.stand above the upsidedown snail on that platform jump at the ceiling above you(its kind of tricky but you can make it)
5.once you make proceed up and you be in the same room with the turtle that talk about pizza move to the left and near the tree trunk, you should notice a cloud that is layered over the tree trunk do a strate jump up until your level with the cloud. now move left to find a secret passage you will be in the room with contra snail proceed left down to the left you will be in the room with the snail that prefers that room over a tree house go to the lower left wall and do the same type of jump from step 6 will find the room with the secret boomerang
Note you can do this right at the beginning of the game before getting the pea shooter and skipping the first boss(I still recomend you fight him so you can get the heart in the item room) also the boss goes down in seconds to the boomerang(like metal man to the metal blades fast)

I also have a tip to all the people having trouble finding the last helix fragment
1.first head to the room where you get the iron shell leave the room and blow down the wall to the left
2 1/2.if you can't go find the devastator should be in the room with/had a heart in it crawl around the the upper set of red and black blocks should find a secret passage that leads you out in to space and you will find the helix fragment you were missing

I hope these tips helped

Engaging, challenging, and sometimes frustrating.

This game really entertained me with its old style exploration and treasure hunting. I found it simple to get a hang of, and overall it was fun. However, in the vein of older games, it was at times very hard to find my way or determine if I had found everything (and once I knew that I was missing something, FINDING it became a chore). I also had a lot of trouble with the gravity snail mechanic, though it was very inventive and useful!

The puzzles were well built, complimenting the powers the player collected over the course of the game, and the bosses required quick thinking and careful thought both. Other than the boss rush and Moon Snail (which were just hard, not cruel), I had no trouble with the game due to finicky controls or unfair enemies. A well made game which only lost points during the final search for the items, and even that was made easier by the radar.

You really made a great game with a wonderful pacing and and amusing sense of humor. Congrats!

I have only played it for a few minutes and

its like you put all the good classic games in to one, Mario, metroid, and heck even a Zelda refrence "its dangerous to go out alone take this" its clear to me you respect the older games where they were simple to play but hard to beat, a job well done
